Fatman Scoop is the latest addition Southampton’s Common People bill

The legendary hype-man, Fatman Scoop, has been added to the bulging Common People bill

Famed for his UK number 1 hit ‘Be Faithful’ and collaborations with Mariah Carey, Janet Jackson and Skrillex, the multi-Grammy winner will be taking on the Uncontained Stage on Sunday with his catalogue of hip-hop classics.

Rob da Bank says “We got the show off to a flying start with two massive headliners in Pete Tong, The Heritage Orchestra & Jules Buckley and Sean Paul, not to mention a huge line-up of great bands and DJs. Now we are putting the icing on the cake with livewire, force of nature Fatman Scoop and some cracking indie action from the likes of The Magic Gang and Blaenavon. That’s as well as some of the best local acts we could find including the winners of our I Want to Play at Common People competition, so let’s be havin’ ya… See you down the front!”

Geek-rockers The Magic Gang, ghost-jazz trio Blaenavon, and ‘it’s on’ star LST are joined by some of Southampton’s finest local talent including The ManateesThe CostellosThe Dead Freights and ‘I Want to Play at Common People’ winners, Mad King Ludwig & the Mojo Co. and Submariner.

Tier 1 tickets have now ended and VIP tickets are selling out fast.

The ultimate bank holiday bonanza is back on Southampton Common for its third two-day metropolitan adventure, uniting the community through music, art and good times. Produced with love by the creators of Bestival, Common People 2017 is set to kick off the festival seasonal with a proper party this 27 & 28 May.

Organisers said: “With amazing music keeping your feet moving throughout the bank holiday weekend, we’ll be bringing a little taste of our legendary madness and mayhem to Southampton Common ramping up the Bestival antics to transform Common People into an amazing festival wonderland, with plenty of our off-the-wall shenanigans including the jumping joys of The World’s Biggest Bouncy Castle, the old-time pleasures of Vintage Funfair Rides, an assemblage of miscellany in The People’s Front Room, traditional community pursuits from Saints Brass, villatic pastimes with Spinney Hollow Bush Crafts,the savoury delights of Scrumptious Street Food, decadent drinkies from The Jam Jar Bar and Sugar Skulls Cocktail Bus, our fantastic Kids Area with the gymnastic pageantry of BigTopMania Circus,Face Painting & Crazy Inflatables, Nuttfield Theatre Pop-Up Shows, Batala Samba Drummers and much more!”
