Louis Armstrong is the most important, most influential figure in jazz history, he was one of the first jazz soloists and was largely responsible for transforming jazz from an ensemble-based vernacular music into an art form that championed individual expression, invention and virtuosity. His relaxed phrasing and strong blues feeling made both his trumpet and singing communicate directly and immediately.
Here’s our tribute with Trumpet – Enrico Tomasso, Clarinet – John Burgess, Banjo – Ross Milligan, Trombone – Mike Owen, Bass – Roy Percy, Piano – Campbell, Drums – Tom Gordon. Plus special guests: John-Erik Kellso and Scott Robinson.[fb_vid autoplay= “true” id=”1812199415485421″]
