FESTIVAL HIGHLIGHTS: Kauai Folk Fest 2019 Sunday Highlight
https://kauaifolkfestival.com Kauai, Hawaii, Kauai Folk Festival, September 29, 2019 Sunday Highlights — Gates opened at 10AM with group singing, some dirty old tunes by Jonny Fritz and hands-on workshops and moved right into Uncle Shuffelo’s old-timey fun fest, the Pine Hearts from the pacific northwest and strummer-crooners the Lins in the the Big Tent. Blacksmith Master Ted Shanks was pounding metal, and lei instruction was shared. Hawaiian music master Puka Asing was in the big tent while the fiddling skills of the Roundhouse Ramblers and SLO County Stumblers strummed and sang. The Boma Bango Dance Band brought the dancing juice along with Island bad-boy Ronnie V and and the Family Band. Grammy-winning artists Tim O’Brien and Jan Fabricius are a rare treat in Hawaii and good times by Oahu’s Caroline Pond’s Rainbow Stringband were be jumping. What was sure to become a chapter in music history written right in the middle of the Pacific, several music Legends shared the stage in a rare moment together in “Folks Telling Stories and Singing Songs with Taj Mahal, Peter Rowan, Tim O’Brien, Puka Asing, and Kupuna” in the The Big Tent. followed by Wally Rita y Los Kauaianos KACHI-KACHI DANCE PARTY on the Cannons Stage. The evening will winded down mellow with Paul Lee Kupfer in the cocktail tent and Jazz Swing tunes of Serena Jewkes and Kirk Smart in the big tent. Festival goers and the Kauai folk Fest team ended the night with a good old freestyle strumming jam and toasts until the end of the Fest.
