Afternoon folks. You may have noticed that we've been away a while and in that time we have agreed that it is time for us to say goodbye. We would like to say a massive thank you to everyone for the support and the people that made it possible. We have been blessed to play some amazing gigs, visit some great places and meet some brilliant people. It's been a beautiful journey. Once again, thank you from all of us and goodbye x ... That's bad news but I wish you all well in whatever you do. xx
Good luck in the future guys. Got some great memories of some great gigs!
This is leaving a massive hole in the gig year. Just sorry it has not worked out for one of my favourite bands of all time and that's a bloody long time :)) so sorry there is no farewell gig as the civic left us craving more. Can only say that I wish everyone in the band all the best for the future, you are all talented musicians so there is room somewhere for you. ALL THE BEST!!!
Afternoon all, just to let you all know we won't be playing night&day cafe in Manchester on Friday 3rd may now. Sorry all, we will try and get this rescheduled as soon as possible, cheers ... See MoreSee Less
Depeche mode, toots and the Maytels, inspiral carpets, royksopp, 2many dj's, wailers, macca B, the Specials, Justin Robertson, but tbh, you always sort it out, so what do I know?!
Folk the system, Levellers, 3 daft monkeys, hobo Jones and the junk yard dogs, ferocious dog, new model army, Tim Minchin, dokovi kolective, stiff little fingers, wonder stuff, Newton Faulkner, doozer mcDooze, gaz Brookfield, barsteward sons of Val doonican, fox and the pirate, Brian stone, meds atomic dustbin, sisters of mercy, placebo, green day,
Pretenders, Garbage, Louise Distras, Skinny Lister, Idles again, Muncie Girls (young band), John Otway, Attila and Barnstormer, the Cure (in my dreams), International Teachers of Pop, Human League, Halestorm (rock).
Neds Atomic Dustibin (I couldn't come the year they played) and Sultans of Ping FC. Basically if I only saw them all weekend I'd be happy.
It simply has to be the The Bar-Steward Sons of Val Doonican - so many missed out this year as the Woodland was full up.
They really deserve a repeat or even better..... a main stage slot.
You know it makes sense 🙂
Something brilliant and new. It’s discovering new stuff at festivals for me. Rolling out big overblown names is the death knell of festivals where the crowd changes and the feeling goes. Keep it fresh!
Echo and the Bunnymen, Stranglers, The Skids, Gary Numan, Wildhearts, Frank Turner, Urban Voodoo Machine (please can they play every year 😉) thanx
Please please please no psytrance. It's the Midlands, we play funky deep house. And The Beatles, as zombies.
Half Man Half Biscuit, The Wildhearts, Black Thorn, a few people have said Duran Duran and I agree they would be interesting.
Chas & Dave, Terrorvision
Burning spear / steel pulse or another big roots reggae headliner for the pallet. Leftfield & more dub & drum and bass in magical sounds (the mad hatterz takeover has been great last couple of years)! Malabi tropical (fantastic Israeli band please check them) and The Hatstand Collective (brilliant original psychedelic funky rootsy blow ya socks of fusion of wonderful people and musicians, please check them out) for the Maui Waui stage, would go down a storm ❤
Leftfield, Orbital, Faithless, Afro Celt Soundsystem, The Waterboys, The The, Johnny Marr, Julian Cope, and of course the Bar Steward Sons of Val Doonican (can these be an annual fixture now guys?)
Pizzatramp, counting coins, popes of chillitown , wonk unit, Matilda scoundrels, inner terrestrials, faintest idea , captain hotknives, random hand
Would love to see Terrorvision, The Trees, Bon Jovi need to come over, Ferocious Dog, Sari Schorr, Sound of the Sirens, the list goes on but most definitely my new favourite Datura Roots Collective!!!!
Vintage trouble, reverend and the makers, bar steward sons of Val Doonican, Sweetchunks band, Funke and the two tone baby, levellers would be brilliant. Wi have a good time whatever the line up though
Those DJ's in the woodlands on the Thursday before Jon McClure were fantastic. Place was bouncing!!!! So, Greg Wilson, Joey Negro, Kenny Dope, Norman Jay, Crazy P, Horse Meat Disco for more of this feel good genre please 🙂
Without sounding rude I pay for my tickets to get surprised by your amazing band choices. My favourite festival of the year because you choose bands I wouldn’t so I’m leaving it to the experts
Bands for the main arena stages and Convoy Caberet (acts for Magical Sounds & spoken word tents to follow):
Toots and the Maytals
Hawkwind - on the Pallet Stage Sat night!
Nik Turner - in Convoy Caberet Friday night!
Billy In The Lowground on the Woodland stage, Sunday afternoon please
First Aid Kit
Underworld...with Iggy Pop if possible please!
Wilko Johnson with special guest Roger Daltrey
The Wonder Stuff
Public Service Broadcasting (tbc, need to listen to their latest album)
Plus, if possible...
Late night chill out area(s) playing ambient and/or dub reggae sounds in one or two of the new spoken word/theatre tents, thanx!
Rev peytons big damn band, wonk unit, samantics, unknown era, L7 (I can dream right?!), mr tea and the minions, the barsteward sons of val doonican (because it wouldn't be bearded without them), doozer mcdooze, skinny lister, yur mum
The Pixies, Violent Femmes, Echo and the Bunnymen.....oh and Bar Steward Sons of Val Doonican.....whoever you get will be good. Never had a bad line up. Always something for everyone and someone new to discover. Keep up the good work.
Sisters of mercy, adam ant, pop will eat itself, emf, wish hounds, Noel Gallagher, my bloody Valentine, johnny marr, hyperjax, shed seven, thousand yard stare, house of love
I think you pretty much get it spot on every year. Something for everyone's tastes.
A tad more rock would do nicely though.
Dirty vertebrae, ferocious dog, holy moly & the crackers, gaz Brookfield, mighty mighty bosstones, skunk anansie, bar steward sons of val doonican, bloodshake chorus, wille & the bandits.
Left two out:
Don Letts DJ set Thursday night to get the ball rolling...
The Whip - their set Thursday night on the Pallet Stage at this year's festival was cut short owing to the traffic problems (IIRC their drummer got onsite late) and only fair they get another crack!
Gong, Steve Hillage, System 7, Levellers, Pulled apart by horses, sounds of the sirens, red hot chilli peppers, UGLY KID JOE that's all for now 😎
Warpaint are awesome ! Alt-j are a great sounding band at festivals.... Crazy P.... Baloji were good at Bluedot festival.... there’s loads !
