Exciting things happen in June; there’s International Yoga Day, Day of the Seafarer and International Asteroid Day. 2017 also sees the addition of a general election due to be held on June 8th – three years earlier than scheduled.

Thinking about heading to Donington early to get a good camping spot? Don’t lose your chance to have your say on election day. If you’re aged 18 years or over, you’re registered to vote and a British citizen – download these forms to register by post

You must apply for a postal vote in advance as your local Electoral Registration Office needs your application by 5pm on May 23rd 2017

Once complete, you’ll receive a ballot paper in the post where you should mark your vote in secret, fill in the postal voting statement and return in the envelope provided.

If you’re unable to vote in person, you can also ask someone to vote on your behalf – this is called a proxy vote. You can ask anyone to act as your proxy, as long as they’re registered to vote and they’re allowed to vote in the same type of election.

Usually, you need to apply for a proxy vote at least six working days before the election day. Download the proxy vote application forms here

So once you’ve decided who to vote for, the next thing you need to do is decide who you’re going to watch at Download 2017 first!
