Latest update from Watchet Festival
[ad_1]
So far we’ve announced the return of the ‘kids area’ and the return of the Something Else Tea Tent (for the adults) but, what about the teenagers??
We’ve got that covered too!
In 2016 we recognised there was a need for an area specifically aimed at teenagers at Watchet LIVE so we invited The Mayflower Project to bring their ‘Teen Tent’ to Watchet. The Teen Tent proved to be such a great success, with teens and parents, we had no hesitation in inviting them back this year. (We’re pleased to say they accepted our invitation 😎).
So, what is the ‘Teen Tent’?
Basically it’s a space for teenagers to hang out and relax. Its exclusively for teenagers so there’s NO ADULTS (apart from the crew) and NO YOUNGER KIDS are allowed.
The tent will have sofas, cushions, blankets, a full band rig, sewing machines, circus toys, Xbox, workshops including music (jam sessions, open mic and recording), craft (lots of up-cycling and learning new skills), circus, performance, henna, hair braiding, face-painting and loads more!
So, who are the The Mayflower Project?
The Mayflower Project is a not for profit organisation set up with the aim of making the festival environment in the UK a safer and more engaging place for teenagers.
The highly skilled and fully DBS checked crew will be on hand throughout to organise things.
How much does it cost?
Just like the ‘Kids Zone’, everything in the ‘Teen Tent’ will be offered free of charge to teenagers. We don’t want anyone to be left out simply because of money and, don’t worry if your teens are a little shy, a subtle effort is made to ensure all new faces are integrated and welcomed into the group.
