Latest update from Solarsphere
WOW!! What can we say…. Solarsphere 2019 didn't get cancelled, we plodded through every challenge thrown at us over the weekend and campers braved the elements to have as much fun as could be had. We are truly humbled that absolutely everyone pulled together whether a crew member or a ticket holder to make it all work!
A MASSIVE thank you to Ann, Gwyn and all their catering/bar team & security at Penmaenau Farm who are always there for us with invaluable help and advice, Snake the stage manager who always goes above and beyond to help where needed, Jon and Jen the lighting and projections extraordinaires (and their helpers)!, Peety and Tom the sound/stage crew … It wasn't easy on Friday for any of the crew with having to deal with the power cuts, but as true professionals, they kept the show going despite the national grid issues.
More massive thanks to everyone running the workshops, Emma (Astrocymru), Jon (Yorkshire Astronomy), Dr Megan Argo, Michelle Clark (Meteorocks), Mary McIntryre, Wendy and Mike, Naomi and Anita, Jayne and Angie, Pete and Reena, Liz Hammond, Jem (Hearts & Arts), and the wonderful Solarsphere choir run by the lovely Abby..
A special mention to my fabulous friend Cath Adams who was the art and craft co-ordinator, a new role for this year to help things run smoothly and what a amazing job she did going above and beyond her role helping to deal with other things too. Thank you!!!!
Huge thanks as always to the awesome Astro team, Jonathan, Tracey, Dave, Steve, Mark and Julian…and I believe Gary joined in too… (and probably a few others). Thank you for your dedication, your time and your knowledge. To give so much and to share your knowledge with others is a true gift to the future of Astronomy, so thank you for everything you do and the encouragement you give others to 'look up'
Another big thank you to the Marshall team… Site Manager Roger, Dan (Vis Taylor)!, Mark, Roy, Mark, Lynn, Viki, Lucy, Angela, Heather and Gareth. Special thanks to Mark Charles for having the Solarsphere signs made! They were awesome!
Thank you to the artists for the wonderful musical entertainment over the weekend, you all rocked! A special mention for Alien Stash Tin/Zobb who saved the day for us on Saturday when 'The Biggest Thing Since Powdered Milk' cancelled due to the weather conditions. Zobb rocks! Thank you!
Thank you also to our wonderful speakers who gave their amazing talks again this year, educating and inspiring as always.
We salute each and every one of you for being at Solarsphere as part of the team or as an attendee… You all made Solarsphere 2019 a great weekend despite some challenging times, so thank you ALL and hope to see you all again in August 2020. (Dates will be announced in the next couple of days)!!!
