Rabidfest

With less than three months into the year, there’s already been some awesome music released- which has made the selection process for our March playlist that much more difficult; from the highly acclaimed debut album from Rabidfest alumni Red Method dropping, through to EPs from exciting young bands including Forlorn and Duskwood, it’s been incredibly difficult to select new material among some of our old favourites.

But here we are, with 19 tracks of pure metal madness- and we thought we bring you along for the journey. Here’s a quick run through of some of the tracks we picked as a little taster for what’s included.

Cycle of Violence - Red Method

From a prominent slot on the Bloodstock Sophie Lancaster Stage, to tearing down the stage at Rabidfest; Red Method was seemingly destined for a massive 2020. On 28th February, the debut album ‘For The Sick’ dropped- and listed as track #1 is ‘Cycle of Violence’, and it packs a hell of a punch. We wouldn’t kick off the playlist any other way.

Emotionless - Forlorn

On Valentines Day, Forlorn came from out of the blue and made an instant impact; releasing the Erased / Emotionless EP- and while both tracks could have had arguments to feature on our playlist, it was Emotionless that particularly caught my attention- particularly the layers audible throughout the track. Seamlessly combining hardcore elements with technical guitar work, wrapped up with a surprising ethereal culmination- Forlorn are well worth checking out.

Brotherhood of the Wolf - Valafar

Who doesn’t enjoy Viking Metal? We sure do. And Valafar more that fill our monthly quota for nordic noise; ‘Brotherhood of the Wolf’ plays as mean as it sounds, pure unrelenting adrenaline to get the blood pumping. The album ‘Wolfenkind’ was released in 2018 and is a welcome addition for all followers of Odin.

Starting Over - Heartsink

The 2nd February marked Heartsink’s first release since 2018, and the York quartet have not missed a beat. ‘Starting Over’, simply put, is feel-good rock with notable pop punk elements- combining catchy riffs and choruses you’ll be replaying in your mind hours after listening.

Kenosha - Duskwood

We could have saved this track for a hot summer day’s drive- but the latest release from Duskwood is worth shouting about now. Released on 28th February, Kenosha features on the Somerset group’s EP ‘The Lost Tales’- desert rock at its purest; blistering vocals and dirty guitar hooks will have heads banging and feet tapping through it’s 6 ½ minute duration.
