Latest update from Outcider Festival
Those of you who have been to any of the 6 Outcider Festivals so far will know that Fernhill Farm – An Arcadian Place to Stay is not only a wonderful location but also an amazing set of people doing positive things connected to farming, the environment, young people and education.
On 21st September 2019 they will be hosting a WORLD RECORD sheep shearing attempt by Stuart Connor, in support of a wonderful cause very close to their hearts.
Supporting Team Grace is a fundraising group inspired by Stuart's daughter Grace Connor who it was discovered had Mitochondrial Disease at 3 years old. She lost her life to the disease.
Alongside the shearing spectacle itself, Fernhill Farm will be hosting a bar, café, wool craft activities and more to make this a fun day for all the family to attend and enjoy.
They would love to see some of the Outcider / Fuelled By Cider family in attendance – you can be sure of a warm welcome as always! Entry to the event is free (but donation buckets will be in operation!) and camping is charged at only £10 pppn.
*** The event also requires a number of volunteers for various tasks such as bar, cafe, car parking and bucket shaking, and once again the Outcider folk are top of their list! Please contact Fernhill direct if you can offer your services in return for a food / drink voucher and free camping. ***
On Sunday 22nd you can also stick around for the bi-annual blade shearing tournament which brings shearers from all across the land to demonstrate their skills! This is a relaxed, family day out on the hill with sheep dog trails, wild food foraging, wool craft etc. This day is all about raising the profile and benefits of blade shearing and wool awareness ideas, whilst encouraging the next generation – again everyone is welcome to come along and get involved or just enjoy a day on the farm.
