Maui Waui news: Maui Waui presents – A Pirate’s Ball ‘4th Edition’

Latest update from Maui Waui

Were back for a 4th edition of the Pirates Ball! This year for a 2 night event…

Leave the stormy sea’s behind, fill your boots with treasure, chests with gold and hold onto your hat captain! We’ll be headin’ back down to the woods me hearties for a party like no other. Stock up on rum and bring your ships mates. We’ll be drinking, dancing and fooling till late!

Maui Waui hits up the WOODS once again to bring you the 4th Into the Woods party! This year we’ll be sticking to the Pirate theme and we wanna see all the scallywags, captains and ships mates!

This year a whole new line up of live music and cabaret – The Pirate Ship stage grows with a massive new ‘Rum Cask’ soundsystem. Its going to blow your mind!

You know what to expect! If you dont then your in for a wild night of full on Maui Waui Fun! With –

LIVE artists – (More to be announced)

Friday –

KARL PHILLIPS and the REJECTS – A completely original mashup of ska, punk & grime with a hip-hop nod at luminaries like The Clash, The Specials & Mike Skinner. Karl’s refreshingly honest lyrics come from a place most people can relate to but never dare to mention!

FOREST OF FOOLS – they fuse traditional instruments with funked-up, high tempo beats, charting a course into the depths of the musical unknown. Where no single tune is exactly as it seems, this is Acoustic Dance Music but not as we know it!

Saturday –

KLONK – Kick-ass gypsy funksters Klonk are stirring up a klezmer revolution….These merciless, rabble-rousing bohemians awaken your primal instincts with their interpretation of traditional Eastern European dance tunes, infused with hip-hop, funk and rock riffs.

THE CABARATS – The potion combines the haunting eastern sound of the Oud with the delicate beauty of the Accordion. The magic is embellished further with the addition of guitar, brass, percussion and glockenspiel. Throw in a solid rhythm section and captivating vocal melodies and it’s nearly there. Finally, chuck in a few rats, give it a stir and the spell is cast!

With artists and entertainment from midday on Sat – More to be announced…..

DJ’s TBC but expect the usual crackers such as

Tallulah Goodtimes
Swing Gypsy
Bedwell
Temporal
DJ YES

Maui Waui

****Maui Waui is postponed until 27 - 29 Aug 2021****

It is with a heavy heart that we must announce the postponement of the 8th Maui Waui Festival. We simply have no other alternative. The Covid 19 epidemic has wiped out the events industry for this year and government guidelines, practical advice and responsibility for the safety of everyone it is clear that the festival cannot go ahead. Despite knowing that this was likely to happen it is still a huge shame and we are truly disappointed not to be seeing you all this year.

We need your help! Maui is a small independent festival with no financial backing, the corona virus situation has put a huge strain on our finances. All tickets purchased for this years festival will be automatically transferred to next years event. We understand some of you may want a refund rather than the swap, we will of course refund anyone who would like one but please, if possible, keep your tickets to next year. Even without any refunds we are looking at a £20k hole in our finances this year. We are appealing to our wonderful community to help in which ever way they feel able to -

1. If at all possible please transfer your ticket rather than request a refund (You do not need to do anything for this)
2. You can donate a small amount to help the festival survive
3. You can donate your current tickets to help us get through the crisis
4. The final and maybe best way you can help is to purchase tickets to the 2021 festival, buy extra tickets for family, friends or just to support us - it will get new faces to the event and help us survive the ongoing ban on public events

Thank you to everyone who has been or planning to come to Maui, we will get through this and we wish everyone all the best - Lets look forward to the next time we meet in a field!

Big love - All the Maui Waui Team.....
