Halloween, was once an ancient festival called Samhain, honouring our ancestors and the dead, but much like much of culture these days, it has become an excuse for crass consumerism. Don't buy into it!
"The report also estimates that UK Halloween celebrations will create over 2000 tonnes of plastic waste from clothing and costumes alone.
Other research by Hubbub has estimated that 33 million people dressed up for Halloween in 2017 but almost half (40%) of costumes were worn only once."
We use what we have at home to make our own costumes and some facepaint... Viola! Hate all the candy with mass wrapping, keep it clean. Make your own toffee apples, popcorn, choc bits. Who wants to wrap their kids on plastic clothing anyway!!!
I want to attend the festival but nobody's answering my email query about the shared yurts 😭
