Venues – Handmade Festival

Latest Festival Flyer update from HandmadeFestival

[ad_1]

We can’t wait to welcome you to Handmade Festival 2019 this weekend. First off, here’s some essential details for you. Please make sure you’ve read it all, and get in touch if you have any problems or questions before the festival:

WRISTBAND EXCHANGE
You will need to exchange your ticket for a wristband at our central box office located downstairs at Firebug (1 Millstone Lane, Leicester, LE1 5JN) from Midday on Sunday. Please ensure you bring a printed ticket to be scanned by our staff. Showing it on your phone may work, but we can’t guarantee this and it will help us keep things speedy for everyone. DO NOT GO DIRECTLY TO ANY OTHER VENUES! You will not be able to swap your ticket anywhere else and they will not be able to admit you unless you are wearing your wristband! This also applies if you’re on the guestlist, have a press or photo pass, or if you exchanged your tickets for magic beans from a wizard. If you’re in any doubt, GO TO BOX OFFICE FIRST!

Buses to all venues depart from the stop opposite Firebug approximately every 20 minutes.

SCHEDULE
The Full schedule is now available in the Handmade app and on our website and social media. We will also offer a free programme at wristband exchange including our clash finder and further details.

VENUE LOCATIONS & AGE RESTRICTIONS
Venue locations and age restriction details are all on a handy google map here:

BUSES
We will be running two complimentary buses throughout the day, stopping at all venues which are open at any given time. We expect them to pass each venue at least every 20 minutes, although traffic conditions may cause delays. Please note that at peak times (Particularly either side of the headline acts in O2 Academy 1 / 2) buses may be slower / busier and it may be quicker or more comfortable to walk. Please seek advice from venue staff.

Most city centre venues are with a 10 minute walk of each other, and Attenborough Arts is under 10 minutes from O2 Academy Leicester.

Buses will cease a short time after the O2 Academy closes having done final runs in to the city.

For bus stop maps / details please pick up a programme as they may not be immediately outside each venue, but will be signed with a large yellow sign affixed to a nearby lamppost or pillar.

Location & Stop
O2 Academy Leicester – University Road Opposite Mayors Walk
Attenborough Centre – Regent Street outside Arts Centre
Y Theatre – London road stand EH
Soundhouse – Humberstone Rd bus stop (Ann street)
The Shed – Humberstone Gate Stand DH
Dryden Street – Belgrave Gate stand BM (Orchard Street)
Firebug & The Cookie – Millstone Lane stand ER

BAGS
Due to government advice on major events some venues won’t permit bags larger than a laptop bag, or eastpack style bag on to their premises and may not be able to accommodate them in cloakrooms. Please travel as light as possible. Bag searches may be in place and will slow your access to venues.

FOOD & DRINK
Most venues will operate searches at the door and will not allow you to bring your own food and drink on to the premises. All venues will have alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks available to purchase, and some serve hot food. There are also many other options available throughout the city to suit all budgets.

GETTING TO THE FESTIVAL
Parking is limited within Leicester city centre so we advise travelling to the festival using public transport. For those travelling from outside Leicester there are fast, frequent services from London, Derby, Nottingham, Sheffield and cities in-between using East Midlands Trains, and from Birmingham, Peterborough and Stansted Airport using Midland Mainline. National Express Coach routes run to Leicester from all over the UK.

ACCESSIBILITY details
All our access details can be found here: http://handmadefestival.co.uk/access-details/

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN VENUES ARE FULL?
Unfortunately this is a possible issue with any multi-venue festival, though we have worked hard with our programming to minimise potential bottle necks throughout the day. If a venue reaches capacity it will operate a one-in-one-out door policy until it is no longer at capacity.

SAFETY AND OUR SAFER SPACES POLICY
Although Leicester is generally a safe city, we always advise ‘buddying up’ and travelling in pairs or groups between venues. Some venues are in ‘quieter’ areas of town – please keep to main, well lit routes or take the shuttle bus if you have any concerns.

Handmade opperates a ’Safer Spaces’ policy. This means we want everyone to treat everyone else with respect regardless of who they are. You can read it in full here and on signage throughout the festival: http://handmadefestival.co.uk/safer-spaces-policy/

WHAT IF I HAVEN’T RECEIVED MY TICKETS
Please get in touch with the ticket retailer you purchased your tickets through. In most cases this will be Gigantic.

WHAT IF I HAVE ANY FURTHER QUESTIONS OR ISSUES?
Drop us an email to mailto:info@handmadefestival.co.uk. We’re checking this address constantly between now and the festival.
