This week Katherine and Paul welcome the ever-inspiring Muslim thinker, writer and Yale Divinity School lecturer, Abdul-Rehman Malik. We brew up a conversation about food, drink and spirituality, and how slowing down to enjoy the ritual of making coffee can have a positive impact on your well-being.

Abdul-Rehman, our unofficial spiritual guide and guru, tells us about the challenges and benefits of observing Ramadan during lockdown this year, as well as how this unusual time has been a great catalyst for change. Meanwhile, Katherine and Paul discuss why Greenbelt Festival made the decision to work more closely with Muslim communities in the UK after 9/11. And, perhaps most importantly of all, we find out if Katherine is a morning or evening person (spoiler alert: her answer may surprise you).

We hope that the £10 price tag for the #GBWildatHome digital pass won't prove a barrier for people.

But, if it does, then please just message us through our Open Festival scheme (using the link below) and we'll see what we can do to get you a ticket. We don't want anyone to miss out, especially in these precarious times.

Hi, can I ask a question. If me and my partner buy 1 pass could we then “attend” different venues on different devices, or do we need 2 passes?

Greenbelt Festival

After putting on a summer of free content, we had expected a few questions about why we’ve chosen to charge for our upcoming festival weekend. But rather unsurprisingly, you lovely lot have been more than happy to go with the flow and have instead gone out of your way to support and encourage us. Thank you!

We do feel it’s important to talk about it though. (Almost) every year when we meet in the field, the artists, musicians, performers, speakers and comedians inspire us and help us to feel more connected to ourselves, each other and our faith.

Creativity and the arts can often be taken for granted, especially now, in a time when free content is only ever a few clicks away. But we couldn’t put on this digital festival weekend without finding a way to make sure all the people involved are being paid for their valuable work and time.

We know that you already know this – that’s why you’ve been so happy to pay. But some things just need to be said out loud.

Passes for the weekend are £10. Once you’ve purchased your pass, we’ll send you your login code – your digital wristband for the day – which you’ll be able to use on one device at a time, and then you’re just a click away from carefully curated Greenbelt goodness. You can even bring your dog.

Absolutely the right thing to do..... those performers sharing their talents and giving their time must be rewarded for doing so. This has been & will continue to be such a difficult time for them all. So many of them have given so much for free during lockdown to keep people's spirits up, but we must appreciate they need to earn a living 🧡

Take the silence as meaning something like "we think you're brilliant doing this, and we want to be involved". Should have said that sooner...

Is there anyway to find/match up with local attendees for Sunday?

Are you able to provide advertising links for the various fair trade concessions who usually support the festival? (I was particularly hoping to buy a hammock for someone special this year as I tried it out at a previous Greenbelt.) This might provide Greenbelt with an extra income stream too.

Laura Stonehewer this is such a cool idea! And here’s me thinking I wouldn’t be able to go to greenbelt this year! 🙌🏼

I was wondering if you had decided about having content available to catch up yet? I'll definitely pay to support and listen if I can, but as I cannot currently escape my '2 under 4' I doubt I'd be able to follow a live stream.

I wish the title was better though. This is straight out of the New Wine United Breaks Out in Spots school. Surely it would have been cooler to call it “All that nice Greenbelt stuff ... but with your slippers on”

Is the content available afterwards? We're using our booked holiday to go to the middle of nowhere with no WiFi 😞

Here's to all the workers and techies behind the scenes. They are the backbone of the live music industry and make festivals like ours possible. #LetTheMusicPlay ... See MoreSee Less

Hero's! They need all the love and prayers we can give them at the moment, this is such a tough time for the live events industry xxxxxx

Greenbelt has been a firm favourite of our summers for the last 10 years. We’d really hoped that things might have been ok by the end of August, and we have been able to help make the festival happen in 2020. But we’ll hope for being back in a field in 2021 with you all.

Passes for our #gbwildathome festival weekend are now available!

They're just £10 and we're imagining that one pass will be used by more than one person – as we're hoping that people will gather together in groups (if they're able) to enjoy the content.

It's massively helpful for us if you book your passes early, as knowing numbers enables us to get the experience just right and book enough livestream bandwidth for everyone to enjoy the best possible visual and audio quality – wherever they are. So please book early.

Once you've purchased your pass, we'll send you your login code – your digital wristband for the day – which you'll be able to use on one device at a time, and then you're just a click away from carefully curated Greenbelt goodness. You can even bring your dog.

Really good idea 🙂 Will some content be available to watch/listen to again if it's not possible to access live?

And I’m booked. Thanks for giving us a Wild at Home Greenbelt 2020

Is there a way to buy a ticket for someone who can’t afford one?

Booked mine, bought the hoodie yesterday too 🙌🏻🙌🏻

I’ve booked my pass!

Booked and t-shirt bought!

Already got ours as we kept our summer passes!

Are there going to be different events going on at the same time such that families will require more than one pass if members need to login on different devices if they want to join in different events?

Booked! Started painting our own flags too! Claire Louise Esther Price

John Clarke Paul Dexter

Loving your hat - I want one!

That's me!!!

Will this price stay the same right up to the festival weekend? I am on a study placement which will require significant zoom attendance over the Bank Holiday weekend but I won't know the exact hours until nearer the time. I'd love to get to bits of the GB festival if I'm not too zoomed out!!

Sorry, already booked a stewards special camp out organised without electric. Might see if I can get a band in, acoustic obvs!

Dan Blamires Leah Evans Claire Lawson Mair Robinson Jon Bawden Rachel Hartnett Sarah Williams....virtual Greenbelt!!! Xx
