Martyn Joseph, our very own talisman and troubadour, is back tonight with his inimitable warmth and artistry, in a songwriting circle show he’s made all his own – The Rising. His very special guest for this week’s edition is Boston-based singer-songwriter Antje Duvekot.

Having toured extensively in the US and Europe for over a decade – including appearances at The Newport Folk Festival and Celtic Connections Festival – Antje is a beautifully accomplished and distinctive artist, recognised for her talents in winning the Grand Prize in the John Lennon Songwriting Competition.

Neil Dorfsman, producer for Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen and Sting says: "When I first heard Antje I knew I was witnessing something very special. She creates an entire, detailed world in verse, and takes you there with beautiful and understated melody.”

This promises to be very special indeed.

What happens when everything stops? We’ve got poet and long-term Greenbelter Anthony Wilson today on learning to live with lockdown and what he’s rediscovered.

“Gradually and sometimes painfully, sitting in silence is teaching me to shed my activist-self for something much quieter and more present. I don’t always like what I see there. Somehow I am learning that this is all necessary.”

Greenbelt Festival

Are you ready for more? This week is positively bursting at the seams with inspiration, fun and provocation. #GBWildAtHome🌱https://www.greenbelt.org.uk/wild-at-home/whats-on/

🌱Mon / Light the fire
Poet Anthony Wilson muses on Peter Gabriel's A Quiet Moment and what lockdown has taught him. Meanwhile in our artist feature we spotlight the wonderful work of Charlie Mackesy in supporting keyworkers.

🌱Tue / Our favourite things
Martyn Joseph is back with special guest, Boston-based singer-songwriter Antje Duvekot for a second Rising livestream (this time with the sound issues well and truly ironed out). It will be epic. Youtube, 7pm

🌱Wed / Brave new world
For all those wondering what protest might look like in an age of social distancing, we bring you the gracious and gentle work of Sarah Corbett with her craftivist method – changing the world, one stitch at a time.

🌱Thu / Every day’s a school day
For all those young at heart and wild at home. First up, another barn-storming show from SK Shlomo with his Beatbox Adventures for Kids at 2pm on Facebook. Then Thomas Trilby presents his very special guest, the inimitable Professor Pumpernickel. If, like us, you like fire, explosions, loads of mess and mind-bending magic, tune into Youtube at 4pm.

🌱Fri / The social club
We are proud to feature The Book of Queer Prophets, a collection of reflections written by LGBTQ people who've struggled to reconcile their identities with their religious contexts. Including contributions from Greenbelt-familiar names like Pádraig Ó Tuama, Winnie Varghese, John Bell, Tamsin Omond, Rachel Mann and Mpho Tutu van Furth, it also includes a chapter from Jeanette Winterson and an afterword from Kate Bottley. The book is curated by Ruth Hunt, a practising Catholic and former CEO of Stonewall. We'll share a film from Ruth for Greenbelters and feature her talk from #GB15, Thou Shalt Not Be Overcome.

🌱Sat / Shindig
In a first for our #GBWildAtHome programming, In Place of War take over our livestream for Saturday evening, bringing us the wonderful Tunisian singer Emel Mathlouthi, whose song Kelmti Horra (My Word is Free) generated millions of views during the 2011 Tunisian Revolution and went on to become the anthem for the Arab Spring. In Place of War work with artists from around the world who are using their creativity and expression to counter the deprivation and violence around them. We cannot wait to hear the haunting performance of Emel.

🌱Sun / Stop the week
Our friends at Space2Breathe in Sheffield have put together a beautiful meditation for you to use, set to a backdrop of images from the festival itself and our beautiful Boughton House site. It's just 15 minutes and worth every second.

As writer Anne Lamott says herself, ‘there’s something to be said about keeping prayer simple. 'Help. Thanks. Wow.’ It’s these three prayers – asking for assistance, appreciating the good and feeling awe – that get us through the day and show us the way forward.

Hear Anne’s funny, insightful and wise recounting of how she came to these insights and what they’ve meant to her over the years
bit.ly/gbtalk-wow

Coincidentally, they’re also three words we’ve found ourselves saying on an almost daily basis since we started #GBWildAtHome. We hope you’re enjoying it.
