We can’t believe that we’re already into Week 4 of SK Shlomo's sizzling Thursday afternoon livestreams. Connecting families and children from all over the world with each other and their potential for creative expression, festival friend (and surely still the world’s greatest beatboxer?) Shlo is also raising money for the NHS through his shows. Best of all? You can be part of the show by applying to be in his Zoom Room here: beatboxadventures.com/join. Facebook, 2pm.

Thomas Trilby introduces special guest, Professor Pumpernickel. Travelling far and wide with his laboratory of lunacy, Professor Pumpernickel has been going stir-crazy since lockdown. He can’t wait to share his enthusiasm for science with you via livestream in the hope of seeding some of our future inventors, explorers, life-savers and superheroes. If you like fire, explosions, mess and mind-bending magic, you'll love Pumpernickel. YouTube, 4pm. bit.ly/gblive-family-4

We love the work that Sarah Corbett does through her gentle form of activism, craftivism, and the Craftivist Collective – and the spirit with which she does it. It might just be that her ‘activism for introverts’ is the perfect form of protest right now. After all, if we want our world to be beautiful, kind and just then shouldn’t our activism be too? Gentleness might seem weak and passive. But it could just be one of the most powerful gifts in the world.

We’re recommending not just one but two of Sarah’s amazing talks from our festival archive today:
🌱Gentle Protest: How Gentleness Can Be A Powerful Tool In Activism bit.ly/gbtalk-gentle
🌱A Spoonful Of Craft Helps The Activism Go Down bit.ly/gbtalk-spoonful

this is great but without subtitles its so hard for me to listen to having to listen bit by bit as it exhausts me.

Martyn Joseph, our very own talisman and troubadour, is back tonight with his inimitable warmth and artistry, in a songwriting circle show he’s made all his own – The Rising. His very special guest for this week’s edition is Boston-based singer-songwriter Antje Duvekot.

Having toured extensively in the US and Europe for over a decade – including appearances at The Newport Folk Festival and Celtic Connections Festival – Antje is a beautifully accomplished and distinctive artist, recognised for her talents in winning the Grand Prize in the John Lennon Songwriting Competition.

Neil Dorfsman, producer for Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen and Sting says: "When I first heard Antje I knew I was witnessing something very special. She creates an entire, detailed world in verse, and takes you there with beautiful and understated melody.”

This promises to be very special indeed.
