A few years ago the filmmaker Andrew Morgan approached Kristen and I about making a documentary film about my work. We have great respect for Andrew so we said yes and he began filming tours and RobCasts and events and interviews-I can’t imagine just how much footage he captured. The result is a new film that he is preparing to release. It’s called The Heretic. You can see the trailer and get more info here: thehereticmovie.com
On this most vexed of days of remembrance, in this, the strangest of times, let's take a walk through modern-day Palestine with investigative journalist Bidisha as she describes the lockdown that is occupation.
"I will write down what I see. No more and no less."
Describing herself as an "expert by experience", artist Bobby Baker speaks honestly and openly about her own mental health and asks why we seem to be so embarrassed to share our stories when one in four of us will experience some form of mental distress.
In the second featured archive talk in our series during #StressAwarenessMonth and as we learn to live with loss and lockdown, we hope Bobby’s candour and comedy is helpful.
“We must find ways to talk about this. And laugh about it, too, sometimes."
As we stand at the entrance to Easter week, we’re delving into the Greenbelt archive to shed contemporary light and urgency on the old story.
First up, Palestinian liberation theologian Naim Ateek on reading the passion in another kind of lockdown – occupation. And rediscovering the suffering servant way of Jesus Christ through that lens.
"You can stand for justice without picking up the sword. You can live with integrity and faithfulness without walking the way of hypocrisy, deception or collaboration. You can be faithful to God without strict, closed, narrow religiosity."
