Memories of #gb19. Russell Brand.
“We’re dealing with Christ. We’re dealing with God in human form. We’re dealing with transcending the material realm. That ‘aint something I would undertake in a jumper.”

Greenbelt Festival pops up a number of times in the new #ShowMustGoOn report from Powerful Thinking, which looks closely at the environmental impacts of the UK festival industry and provides advice and guidance on how to improve!
We're pleased to be recognised for a number of eco-efforts, including having bamboo wristbands, halving our diesel usage, and the 'Band Wagon' - our way of getting artists on site. Read the full thing at www.vision2025.org.uk.

I still have this somewhere ! 🤗 Still wear the tee shirt from that year. Lol. 😊
I was just about two months old...I understand it was a hot summer that year...
Aaah, back when anyone knew what Whitsun was ...
I remember Malcolm &, Alwyn observing "Christmas, Easter, Whitsun, Greenbelt: you could call it another mudbath." It was a wet year, that was.
1976 was my first Greenbelt! It certainly was a long hot summer, which unfortunately came to an end half way through the festival!! The final evening concert had to be held in one of the marquees. I seem to remember Graham Kendrick playing and I think the evening was rounded off by the ‘Mighty Flyers’ - anyone remember them?
That was my first Greenbelt. As a performer!
Drawn by Richard Deverell if I recall correctly
I wasn't born for another 3 years and 3 months!
With 6 people we came that year from Leeuwarden (the Netherlands). It was a fantastic experience (exept the sanitary facilities). I have saved my ticket and the information about programs etc. In 1977 we went again. In that year i bought a cassette tape from the recording of the Sunday morning meeting in which we celebrated the Supper. The tape is now almost worm out. It is very dear tot me. I also boutht sandals, made from old car tires. The man she made was there with an old double-decker bus. I cherisch the memories. Thank you for organazing the Greenbelt festival!
Remember the massive notice boards we all pinned notes on for our friends, arranging to meet them? The days before we all had mobiles!
The poster is still true! I think my first Greenbelt was 1980.
I remember the poster but was deemed old enough until 1979. It has kept me going on the journey of life since then, even when I have missed festivals.
