It is easy to criticise the festival for prices or policies, however it is a wonderful spectacle and it’s no mean feat to have reached this milestone. I don’t think it’s too much of an accolade to say that The Glastonbury Festival is a national treasure. I went for 5 years as a punter and for the last 10 years working, I have met life long friends and seen sights I will remember all my life. Long may it continue.

I was there 50 years ago (aged 10), on a blanket in front of the stage, with my mum, dad, sister and brother. Looking forward to the book coming out!

Looking fantastic as ever Mr E 🙂

I was there at 16 50 years ago. Wasn’t able to afford tickets in recent years. Saved up and tried this year and failed to get any.

Laughing at the price of Glastonbury tickets..?

Are the signed copies still available?

How come the signed edition has 16 pages less than the unsigned edition???

What about Led Zeppelin?

Glastonbury Festival (official) any chance any more sign copy will be released says they are sold out on Waterstones page?

THE 5G FESTIVAL – The People of Pilton Speak, 4th June 19.
Some of us from the Glastonbury Stop 5G Group attended a meeting at Pilton Village Hall that is a regular part of festival preparations. The Glastonbury Festival team liaise with local parish Councillors over matters concerning security, traffic, signage and off-site camping. Residents had much to say on those subjects.

The room was packed and the atmosphere felt quite taut. It was stirring to hear Pilton residents come forward and articulate very powerfully their objections to a) the mast that has been erected in the village right next to the children’s skate park and b) the use of 5G within the festival area itself with three mobile masts being provided by EE.

Residents objected to the lack of accountability, that no-one had been identified at EE as responsible for the supposed safety report issued to the festival team. Residents demanded to know who was responsible and that the report Glastonbury Festival was privy to should be made public to the residents of Pilton and the festival goers too.

Residents demanded a further meeting with the Glastonbury Festival on this specific aspect and had a very sobering effect upon the chairman of the committee who said, on record that he would arrange a meeting to this end.

Christopher Baker asked for clarification on the actual frequency that would be used, stressing that correspondence to date had produced an unclear or conflicting response.

One Pilton resident gave compelling personal testimony of the effect of 4G on her health, let alone 5G, stressing that transition to 5G cannot be assumed safe as 4G has already been injurious to many.

One inspired questioner asked for a map that clearly illustrated the location of the masts and the reach of the signal so people could avoid it if they so choose. (I imagine that proposal might create some PR complications for EE – good!)

The chairman of the Festival committee refused to answer a direct question “Can you prove 5G is safe?” with a yes or a no, but instead something like “It’s not unsafe”, which was met with some derision.

A local mother described her shock at the sudden arrival of the transmitter mast sited right over the children’s skate park, pointing out that apart from the health concerns over signal, the generator was unmanned and no security was allocated. It posed a danger.

A very wonderful member of the Parish Council expressed his concern at the mast which had been erected next to the village’s skate park. He categorically stated that “the park belongs to the village and what right had the festival to site a mast there?” The festival committee demurred over this mast somewhat. It had been there in previous years and not in others….or something…and it wasn’t 5G….and it belonged to O2…..etc etc

The energy among members of the Parish Council changed as residents made their feelings plain and a deepened sense of awareness arose. It was a necessary revelation. May residents and Councillors work closely for the interests of all in the community against the arrogant corpocracy of the Festival / EE partnership.

Respect to the Residents of Pilton! You were clear, intelligent and powerful! Our concerns and prayers for your safety are with you
