First Light Lowestoft

First Light Festival are delighted to announce an exhibition of original and inventive banner designs inspired by people’s experiences at the festival.

A selection of designs submitted by members of the public as part of a competition run for #FirstLightFromHome have gone on display this week in the windows of Lowestoft Library and will be up until end of September.

The designs will be exhibited alongside hand-crafted banners created as part of #FirstLightFromHome and made by The Friends of Kensington Gardens and Allsorts, a family-run service providing respite and activities for adults, children & families with learning disabilities/difficulties and /or additional needs.

Winning entries created by Elliot Hill, Daisy Snow, Hannah Perry and Daniel ‘ Triptik’ Jones, were chosen by Directors of First Light Festival, Genevieve Christie and Wayne Hemingway, and Calvin Winner, Curator at Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts, and will be exhibited as part of the festival’s opening parade in 2021.

First Light partners CEFAS have shared a series of fascinating films with us, demonstrating the work they do to tackle the serious global problems of climate change, marine litter, over-fishing and pollution.

In this video, listen to Debbie Murphy, member of the Aquatic Non-native Species Management team and project lead for the campaign to retain and report American Lobsters at CEFAs, as she explains the relevance of the project…
