TODAY sees a big push to encourage Government support for the music industry under the banner #LetTheMusicPlay.

The day begins with a letter being delivered to culture secretary Oliver Dowden signed by thousands of artists, crew and venues. Names on the letter include Ed Sheeran, The Rolling Stones, Dua Lipa, Sir Paul McCartney, Skepta, Rita Ora, Coldplay, Dame Shirley Bassey, Eric Clapton, Annie Lennox, Sam Smith, Sir Rod Stewart, Liam Gallagher, Florence + the Machine, George Ezra, Depeche Mode, Iron Maiden, Lewis Capaldi, Little Mix amongst 1500 artists and thousands of venues and crew calling for urgent action.

But the main push is TODAY (Thursday) on social media, and it needs your support. Please get involved by posting a video or photo of a festival our gig with the hashtag #LetTheMusicPlay and encourage your colleagues, networks, family and friends to do the same.

Hundreds of grassroots music venues face closure, much of the workforce faces redundancy, and the talented supply chain that makes shows happen is crumbling. This is our chance to be heard above all sectors, and to show the vital importance of live music in the UK.

The call to government comes as new research commissioned by the industry demonstrates the vital economic contribution of the live music sector. As well as supporting 210,000 jobs across the country venues, concerts festivals and production companies added £4.5bn to the UK economy in 2019.

Thanks in advance for being involved and ensuring the Government gets the message that the music and events sector must be protected.
