Drunken Chorus news: This is just who I am

Latest update from Drunken Chorus

We’ve been mentoring Miranda Prag again recently. She’ll be at Camden People’s Theatre on Wednesday (29 Nov). See you there! Presented by Miranda Prag

Do you find me likable?
Would you happily spend an hour with me?
How about two?

This is a show about identity, authenticity and the murky area between the two. It’s about being yourself, and not having a fucking clue what that even means. It’s about me, and you, and some other people too, but mainly me.

Watch me, Miranda, as I wade around in the sludge that exists between the person I want to be and the person I think I am. Using nothing but a microphone, a poorly put together soundtrack and a ludicrous outfit, I’ll tell you a story that exposes the one thing I’ve been trying so hard all this time to hide: my real self.

I’m getting it all out. I’m spewing the truth all over the stage and I don’t care what anyone thinks.

Would be nice if you like it though.

Supported by CPT. Commissioned by GLYPT as part of Progression (funded by Arts Council England). Mentored by Drunken Chorus.

About the artist

Miranda Prag is a writer and theatre-maker. She makes work that tackles big themes through sharp observations of everyday life. Her work is bold, silly, awkward, thought-provoking, surreal at times and usually involves at least a little bit of writhing around on the floor.

Drunken Chorus

Saturday night 7pm at 'A Bit Of A Do' 🤩

INSTAGRAMMING THE APOCALYPSE by Byron Vincent

Who do you trust when the news is fake, you’re partner is cheating on you and global politics is an exploding clown car? Byron Vincent is diagnosed with an anxiety disorder, but with dying icons, impending climate catastrophe and that bloke from Home Alone Two in charge of worlds largest nuclear arsenal; isn’t abject panic the only sane response?

It’s a glib postmodern world in which cynicism is cool, modern life is rubbish and sincerity is for suckers; but as concepts like truth, peace and hope become risible anachronisms, maybe it’s time to re-evaluate our perspective. In a post-satire age, what’s so funny about peace love and understanding?

Byron Vincent is a multi-award winning writer, performer and broadcaster. He has written for the Guardian and Radio 4, and is a campaigner on issues around mental health and poverty.
