Latest update from Cursus Cider Festival
** MORE important festival info!! **
Like all festivals we take our waste management very seriously, and wish to reduce our footprint. We need your help for this, and we hope you'll be happy to do so!
Upon arrival you will be given clear bags in which to put your waste. Please keep your recyclable and non-recyclable waste in separate bags, as our volunteers on the Monday have the large and unenviable task of separating everything on site. Recyclable materials consist of cans, plastics (with recyclable symbol), cardboard and paper. Please compact this waste as much as possible to maximise space in bins and skips.
A significant proportion of landfill waste from festivals comes from large items such as camping chairs, tents, mattresses, etc. We appreciate that these things get broken and that you no longer need them, but we'd prefer it if you put them back in your vehicle and dispose of them at home. They are yours after all
Talking of taking things home… an increasing number of people (especially our friends in live-in vehicles) have adopted the excellent practice of taking their waste bags home. This is not always practical for everyone, but it makes a HUGE difference to our litter and recycling team. A bag of recycling takes just 5 minutes of your time to sort through at home, but imagine how much time that is for the festival as a whole! Please consider this option when packing up to go home, and feel free to boast about it to other campers
Finally, you may have heard us mention the “Butt Out!” campaign, to reduce the amount of cigarette-related litter left on site. This kind of waste is extremely toxic and hazardous, especially in a farm setting, and we ask that you treat cigarette litter as you would any other. Please make sure your cigarette is fully extinguished before using the general waste bins or our special “Butt Hole” receptacles in the arena…
A little bit of effort from all of you lovely people goes an incredibly long way and we really appreciate your help
