As part of Convergence 2018, we are please to present Nonclassical’s experimental classical club night exploring the influence of computers & AI on music, feat. 30-piece orchestra, and live experimental electronics.

Rise of the Machines #2 showcases the world premiere of the first ever Concerto for Drum Machine & Orchestra, a work in five parts which places the drum machine centre stage as solo musical instrument, bringing the sounds of dance music and hip-hop to the classical world. A dialogue between human and machine as electronic duo James Ford and Jas Shaw aka Simian Mobile Disco and singing collective Deep Throat Choir perform from their forthcoming collaborative album Murmurations. Featuring Live Fluid Art by Chris Parks and Saam Farahmand – microscopic fluid paintings, transmitted to the Barbican from a Central London laboratory with support from The Mill.
