We can confirm the Bestival Group has had some financial challenges of late but the process we are in allows a new partner to come on board with the financial commitments required to deliver Camp Bestival 2019 in its finest form. As we stand currently, there is every intention to make this show happen, and move forward into a new era. Thanks and love to all our wonderful Camp Bestival community for all your support X
the silence from CB regarding people on payment plan is deafening
I am not bothered about a refund for the Sunday - it was Mother Nature. CB organisers cancelled on the grounds of health and safety, which is understood given the winds that howled that day. If issuing refunds means it is the downfall of CB for future years then I do not want ours. I understand about the Sunday day tickets - that’s a different argument - we were there as a family of four from Thurs til Mon. During our first family festival, we experienced 3 fantastic days which we will cherish for years to come. Sunday’s weather was out of CB’s control. Everyone is focusing on the money that should or shouldn’t be paid back, rather look at the heritage of the festival, what it means to the festival community and its future. Not everyone will agree with my comments but I felt that I needed to air them. I hope these ‘issues’ in the statement are just a little blip and not detrimental to the future of the festival.
I understand every customers issue about refunds, and Camp Bestival, I’m sorry that this is happening for you. I’m sorry to take to social media to comment, BUT when will you pay the artists who help make the event? 2 months later, no payment, no update. Our outstanding invoice is a lot to carry for a small company and crippling financially if we’re not going to be paid. Just an email update would be nice. I bet you’ve paid your headliners.
I personally think asking for refunds is a bit mercenary. Weather is something you can’t predict, and the festivals costs increase, rather than decrease when bad weather hits! We all know we’re taking a punt on the weather when we book a UK festival!
Camp Bestival, I hope you can get things sorted! Good luck-you deserve it after the run of crappy luck you’ve had over the past couple of years
I get there's worry but could the overly selfish opinions cease whilst this is very much in the hands of the organisers, administrators, legals etc? Twisted knickers, high horses and general silliness only shows you up rather than patience and support. Be sensible kind adults like you are when you're on the festival site for that weekend...I hope xxx
Before saying you have every intention of trying to put on next year's CB . Surely you should be sorting out the refunds for last year. And how are you allowed to keep selling tickets with all the uncertainty surrounding your finances?
I’ve bought tickets for 2019 via the payment plan. Are you really selling tickets for an event that is not yet confirmed? If so, do you have a full refund policy in place in the event of a non-event? On top of that still waiting for refunds for 2018. My concern now is that the 2019 event will find it difficult to source insurance with the financial uncertainty therefore we need assurance that 2019 funds are able to be refunded if the event does not continue
Really hope that a new invester comes on board, we've been bringing our teenagers since they were toddlers as we are involved with Pig's Big Ballroom. Can't think of any other festival that would be safe and friendly enough to take them, Camp Bestival must continue even at the expense of Bestival which hasn't been good enough for a long time...
We are owed from the unfortunate event of rain and wind from this year, though I think give CB some slack they are obviously trying to sort it out. Good luck @Camp Bestival we hope you get an investor and the amazing festival continues 🤞 🙏🏼 we’ve had such fun times with you x
With them having stopped selling tickets I've emailed Front Gate Tickets and Camp Bestival for an update on whether payment plans will be put on hold. Really hoping they answer before the next payment comes out as can't afford to pay and not go!
We’ve always had an awesome time. The loanshark involved is putting at risk the well loved and best family festival. The safest and most amazing place for kids and parents. Shame on him. Be afraid of the kharma of thousands of parents... good luck Bestival family xxx
Unfortunately I think the line ups over the last two years has been a warning . ie: lack of headliners . It seemed every penny was been rinsed with vip back stage access etc . And Look at the terrible security in 2017 once again to save costs . Great memories and love the place but for me , writing has been on the wall for some time!!
Another example of greed ruining things for us normal folk, remember ticket sales alone would of raked in over £5m before the doors opened. How much money do you need. Mysterious new backers will be the same company under a new guise but magically avoided dipping into their stash to help out their loyal customers. Lying cheating scum bags.
A few points that I'd like Camp Bestival to address.
1. Who is the insurer, what progress has been made and what is the expected timeline to resolve the Sunday refund issue.
2. Your website is not secure, you need to probably sort the SSL license, I'm not an expert but based on experience probably what's up. See attached image show description.
3. Can you confirm there are people at CB office actively working on 2019?
No mention of refunds for 2017 day ticket refunds . If I’d bought something online that hadn’t been delivered I would have received a refund ! Be interesting to know where we stand legally ! Not happy Camp Bestival !! Atleast let us know where our money is !
I get it, I really do. We were at this year's event. We had some issues like those mentioned but, we enjoyed it all the same. Also hoping we get a refund but again, wasn't expecting one due to it being weather related. Seems to be so many people making statements and comments ref CB that almost sound like you want CB to fold. If there is such animosity towards CB maybe you should leave the group/page or, CB should consider calling it a day. Here's hoping all matters are resolved for punters this year, those who're booked for next and for the CB team as a whole. We hadn't booked yet as have another holiday planned but we were considering so it would be a shame if it wasn't an option anymore.
Has anybody considered they may have had the huge insurance payment for our refunds and then filed for administration... which means nobody will be getting a refund.. and no doubt the money is hidden well till the bankruptcy goes through? This whole scenario is looking quite suspicious and goes to prove a lot of people’s views over the last couple of years it being all about the money.. this is a real shame😢
Any news on refunds still? I appreciate the difficulties but I don’t think you should be thinking of next years until this years has been sorted!
How about a statement regards our refund for this year? I appreciate you have to also think to the future but it would be nice to have some form of communication...even if it’s bad news. It’s not fair to keep everyone in the dark and second guessing.
I know you will make it work and I have my faith in you! I am soooo looking forward to Camp Bestival 2019. You all rock x
If you have such confidence that it will go ahead then can you please refund those of us who have already paid upfront for 2019. It’s one thing waiting for this years refunds but to have also paid upfront in good faith and be told no refunds as you have “every intention” does not put me at ease x
Very concerned as a deposit has been paid and money coming out from next month. We booked in good faith that a refund would also be given at some point and wanted to show our support of this great festival. More details need to be given or I think on the basis of this statement I will cancel the standing order
Think u will b very lucky if people bother going after the way people have been treated regarding this year's total disaster
I have everything crossed for all at (Camp) Bestival HQ. You have provided us with so many wonderful fun times and amazing memories over the years. LONG may you continue X
Best of luck with the new investors ✨✨✨ You are the best! So many happy times! Everything crossed! Cheers to Camp Bestival 2019 💙❤️🧡💛💚💙💜 xxx
Until I get my Day tickets refunded I (and many others) will not even be thinking about going to any future Camp Bestival event. Its been 2 months now and you still have our money - forget giving us the usual excuses about "talking to your insurance company" - do the right thing and refund YOUR customers. You have lost so much PR over the disastrous way you have handled this - it will take a long time to earn peoples trust again.
We've been going since 2007 as a family, last year was the least enjoyed by all, this was not because of the weather, 2017 we endured the constant rain and still had a great time. 2018 felt disorganised from the moment we arrived and parked our car. The security and wrist band collection was farcical at the entrance gate. Normally some is selling programmes on entry no one was there. The toilets throughout site where unattended - no loo roll or hand sanitizer. Men's urinal were overflowing. Camping plus gate was moved to the furthest point of site making a longer walk. Most of the changes made to site didn't make the site easy to navigate. We love camp bestival we've made some lovely memories over the years but feel 2018 may have been our last.
If this happens I'll want my money back as pitches in general camping will be taken up before we can arrive. You can't suggest something like this after already going on sale. For 2020 maybe but if so this will be our 6th and last.
In theory this is great, but, you couldn't accommodate us for the 4 days with the showers and toilets you had, and the ones you did have we're SHOCKING by the Saturday so how would they be from Monday to Monday 😲
Would there be ANY entertainment?
I know it doesn't have to be live music but a tent with a bit of music and a bar and some food stalls would be good, maybe kids stuff in the tent during the day? Maybe a tent that did arts and crafts as well?
Would also be great if you could have the Hotpoint launderette there all week as well!
Our school breaks up the Friday before timing is good for us but I know many don't break up til the 23rd.
Maybe do it from the Tuesday to give parents that extra day to pack and leave school, can you imagine picking the kids up from school with the whole car packed and telling them we're going to Camp Bestival early!!!
Edit: bad downside is that all the good spaces will be taken up before the weekenders arrived as well!
We’ve been 6 years running and sadly won’t be back. Waiting for refund for this year- no updates and it’s dragging on. Decline in toilets and showers this year, expensive kids rides etc. Glastonbury is a much better deal if we’re lucky enough to get tickets
No. My friends and I work in education and wouldn't get the time off. My daughter will still be in school. We have already started paying for our tickets and would have given more consideration to coming if we thought there was a chance we wouldn't get a decent pitch. There weren't enough facilities in the actual camping areas as it was this year. To suggest this after tickets have gone on sale really sounds like a money making exercise - a double smack in the face for those still waiting for refunds but who have shown good faith by already purchasing next year's tickets.
Not at all. We lost our entire camping gear amounting to £800 this year due to the storm. Weather not Bestival's fault but the lack of support during this time was so very disappointing. Kept us waiting until 1pm with no shelter or refreshments? Still no word of refund.
The state of the toilets all weekend was disgusting and by the time the storm arrived they were utterly disgraceful. Such a shame because we'd had a brilliant time until then.
Agree. I would keep your mouth shut about selling more tickets when thousands are still out of pocket. Picniq have paid their refunds out. Why haven't you?
I don't think the average family would be able to afford food for that much longer or take enough with them
Refunds for what?!! Camp Bestival don’t control the weather. We attended for the whole weekend and felt disappointed that the last day didn’t go ahead but we’re certainly not expecting any refunds.
No thanks as you’ve still not given any refunds despite the festival being two months ago 😡 we don’t really care about your insurance, you should pay us back from your own money and then get the insurance!!!!! Not good and contemplating coming back at all
Camp Bestival 2019 can you confirm what is going on with the news that you and Bestival have been put into administration by debt managers, as is reported in the Sunday Times! What will the consequence be for those of us that have already paid for 2019 tickets ?
Please, please, please can we have Bears posh toilets again next year? The ‘VIP’ ones this year were awful!!! Not worth the money at all.
In theory this is a super idea. But my children do not break up from School until the Wednesday so we wouldn’t be able to make it. I think I would be worried about the state of the toilets and the shower facilities. It seemed like they couldn’t cope with demand for the 3 days we were there last year, let alone a week.
I would also be worried about what type of pitches that would be available if we couldn’t get to you until Wednesday evening Thursday morning.
I would also worry about the question in and out of the site when trying to get anywhere.
Just some thoughts from my family.
Keep sharing thoughts and ideas as it’s great as a customer to feel involved in the process.
Couldn’t lug enough food and stuff there! Might come a day earlier but that would be about it. Will save our longer camping trips for when we can park next to the tent and restock supplies with trips to the supermarket!
No because the schools don’t break up in time and because the cost of food for all that extra time would be horrendous. There is no way you could manage to keep stuff cold long enough even to make a sandwich by the time CB started! Keep it as it is camp bestival but fix the problems first and make it better! I want to come back but I’m not convinced
No. You couldn't provide adequate shower and toilet facilities for the standard four days let alone more. Work on improving your current offer first.
Yep would camp there all year round if we could 🙂 might need to go with our boys plan for dealing with the weather though.
Most schools finish the day before camp bestival starts. Also hoping for more and better toilets and showers in camping plus next year.
No, we won't be returning to Camp Bestival next year, still waiting for the refund and the facilities were dreadful for a family fest.
No, our school doesn’t break up until the Wednesday and there are much nicer campsites to camp in near the coast. Festival camping isn’t the nicest, family friendly way to camp even if the festival is!
I don't think so! Most schools have only finished the day before. We love camping but doing Thursday-Monday with no running water, washing up and electric like a normal camp site is enough for us!
Camp Bestival can I ask how this would work for those of us that Camp in Accessible Camping? It’s already such a squeeze on there and getting there as early as possible on the Thursday is key to getting a spot with friends!
Nice idea in theory, bit a big no for so many reasons, the main one being fairness for those who can't get to CB until Thursday and all the good spots/parking already taken! also upkeep of loos etc..if there is any bad weather the mud too....
Our school doesn't usually break up until the Tuesday or Wednesday, so it would have to be a no from us. Also, there's the consideration of people not being able to get a decent pitch if they arrived on Thu and lack of space for extra food and drink. We love CB just the way it is. x
