Just realised Steve is live right now!! Sad we won't see him at Cambridge this year but hopefully we can welcome him back next time. Enjoy xx ...

Our thoughts go out to John Prine who is critically ill with coronavirus and on a ventilator, and his wife, Fiona, who is also ill. John has performed at Cambridge many times over the years. Here is a photo of his most recent set from 2018. ...

A real songwriters songwriter. Thoroughly enjoyed and was mesmerized by his CFF sets both in 2012 and 2018. His most recent album could well be his best imho. “The Tree of Forgiveness”. Astonishing talent. Makes you cry, makes you laugh, makes you think. Truly unique.

Here's a photo from CFF 1973 .. quote ' looks like everybody drinks this stuff round here ' He was magnificent along with his best buddy, Steve Goodman .. that was a vintage year. Hope John gets through this .. he's a determined fella!

Been listening to his work non stop for last couple of days. A truly great singer/songwriter.

My thoughts go out to John and his family. I hope he is going to be OK. He is a legend.

So sad love John saw him @ Cambridge in 2018. Think he’s been unwell recently as cancelled London in Sept & our tickets were rescheduled for Feb but sadly this was also cancelled due to his. 🙏💓x

We saw him at the festival in 2018 and he was brilliant. I hope he and his wife can get through this.

Sad news indeed, seen him several times at Cambridge, just love his laid back style and sense of humour. Get well please.

First saw John Prine at the Cambridge Festival I think in 1992. Nanci Griffith joined him to sing "Speed of the Sound of Loneliness" and my amateur photographer husband took a wonderful black & white photo, which we cherish.

Briefly saw him at the Fleadh in Finsbury Park, was of course impressed with what I saw. He was then scheduled for the folkie but broke his elbow and sadly had to cancel. Finally saw him at the festival 2018 and he was superb, more than worth the wait. Love and well wishes to them both.

His gig at your festival was awesome. His music maker nu day. Sending healing love to John and family❤

Don’t pray. Can’t pray. Wish John “All The Best”. Need to see him again at CFF or anywhere.

The reason I went to Cambridge in 2018. Absolutely fabulous set. So sad to hear this😢

He’s such a fighter - we pray he wins this battle too....

He’s the one.. be well inspirational man

Loads of love to John and family xxx

That was a great set. Our thoughts are with him and his wife.

Very sad to hear this, get well soon John.

Saw John with Steve Goodman at The festival in the 70s they were both brilliant, get well soon John .

I am sad to hear the news of their illness hope they pull through 😥

My favourite singer-songwriter. First saw him in ‘73.

Saw John many times including his last visit to Cambridge and hope to see him again !

Loved this set. Hoping John pulls through this xxx

How sad. So many people suffering.

Love his songs! Get well🙏

We are sorry to share the news that the 2020 Cambridge Folk Festival has been cancelled.

The safety of festival-goers, as well as the artists, staff and crew who make the Cambridge Folk Festival possible, is our top priority. The situation around coronavirus has been changing rapidly in the past days and weeks and, unfortunately, under the circumstances it is becoming too difficult to plan, prepare and deliver an event on the scale of the Folk Festival whilst keeping everyone safe.

We know this will be a blow not just for our festival-goers, many of whom have been supporting Cambridge loyally for many years, but for the incredible artists who make Cambridge so special, as well as for our staff and crew. Artists and many others working in the live music sector are under tremendous pressure, especially as many have already seen gigs and tours cancelled or postponed, and this decision has not been taken lightly.

As a local authority, Cambridge City Council, which runs the festival, has frontline responsibilities in times of crisis and is working hard to support local residents. Our immediate focus has to be on supporting our community through this difficult time, particularly those who are frail and vulnerable.

If you have already booked your tickets, rest assured your tickets are protected. You will be offered the choice of a refund or the chance to hold onto your tickets for the 2021 edition. Please be patient and wait to hear from us about your options for a refund – our Box Office is extremely busy and will contact you in due course.

Thanks for supporting the Cambridge Folk Festival and see you in 2021.

It’s a real blow, so sorry. Think 2021 is going to be a real blast! Xxx

Awwww this is such very sad news indeed!! Totally understandable in the current situation of the world! I’m very sad because we are next to the park where the festival is held so it’s going to be a n extremely strange quiet time without the festival and seeing the lead up preparations of the festival too!! 😢 Stay safe everyone and big loves everybody ❤️😢xx

So sad to be missing this highlight of our year. The line up was great so I'm hoping the artists will be able to make the next dates. Thanks for planning a fantastic event and good luck to you all for the next one. See you there 😊 x

Sending all our thoughts to the CFF team from Team SFF.

I'm particularly disappointed because I think this was potentially the best line up you've had for years. It would be great if you could keep the same acts for next year.

Very, very sad. The right decision but I'm gutted. The guy who would be my husband first asked me out there. My kids have been since they were babies... So, many special memories... Stay safe, here's until the next time...

Was one of the best line ups for years but totally understand and agree with the decision. Best wishes to all the fabulous struggling performers at this difficult time... stay safe all.

Not unexpected and definitely the right thing given the circumstances, but totally gutted that I won’t see my Cambridge “family” this year 😭

Happy to hold on to our tickets. Could you hold on to that lineup?😂 We send our love to the greatest music Festival in the world😘

Also sad that there will be 2020 tag missing from our tent - maybe we’ll laminate the tickets (which I’m sure I already have) and use them instead!!!

Sad to hear, but not unexpected. Please hang on to that lineup for next year to give us all something to look forward to 😊

Completely understandable but sad that the highlight of my calendar year is not going ahead. But I’m sure the same familiar faces will be back in 2021 and my very best wishes go out to you all.

😢 it’s an excuse to come back bigger and better next year! Been listening to Nick Mulveys Live sessions on Instagram in the garden and pretending to be at Cambridge Folk fest again ❤️

We went for the first time last year for just a day and loved it. Planned to bring the caravan this year. See you in 2021! 🎶

I’d like to join the chorus of voices saying please put this year’s artists into cold storage and thaw them all out in time for a great festival in 2021.

Not a surprise, and the most responsible decision to make! Stay safe everyone!

The correct decision. So sad that Lynne Sellman and I won’t see people we see every year, that we say “hi” to but don’t necessarily know their names - apart from “Ukulele Keith”, his friend Paul (and sons).

Right decision- but gutted xx Please keep as much of the lineup as possible xx

Be so sad to miss this year. We'll just need to double the enjoyment in 2021. Virtual hugs to all CFF crew and festival goers.

Gutted. Kinda knew it was coming though and of course it's the right decision. I'm assuming that the cost of the Glamping will be refunded as well?

And I was given a ticket to go this year with my son, daughter in law and friends! First time for us for many years. Richard Green see you next year? X

Just echoing what others have said. Please roll over the line up.

Very sad news but in the current climate the only real option. Looking forward to 2021 already!

Inevitably really, so sad amazing line up, hope they are all on board next year , lets party like

Fully understand. Right choice I am afraid. Deferral to next year sensible option for all.
