#WeStandTogether #BlackLivesMatter

At the beginning of this Pride Month we should understand that without black lives there would be no Pride, it was BAME activists on the front line of the Stonewall Riots 51 years ago and now is it our turn to be there for them.

Like millions of people across the world, we have been horrified to see the violence and racism perpetrated by those in positions of power against George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and other members of the BAME community.

More than ever we need to step up and be counted, saying nothing is just not good enough.
Just not being racist is not enough, we need to be proactively anti-racist, to advocate, amplify and learn what it means to be anti-racist.

Pride has always promoted diversity and inclusion of all communities and, focusing on some of the appalling hate crime statistics and calling out transphobia, biphobia, racism and homophobia. Our #WeStandTogether campaign continues to be a call to action for all in the LGBTQ+ community and our allies to stand up to discrimination.

“The ultimate tragedy is not the oppression and cruelty by the bad people but the silence over that by the good people.” Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

The BAME community are an integral and vital part of our Pride celebrations and urgent action is needed to overhaul a system that favours people based on skin colour or who they are.

Now more than ever, the LGBTQ+ community need to stand united and stand solidarity with the BAME community.

Thankyou Brighton & Hove Pride - Official Page for this! Your support of the BAME community goes back many years. You have given many of us BAME artists and performers opportunities that a lot of other Prides didn’t do. Your support has been exemplary! Thankyou ❤️

Very well said... I seen there are peaceful Black Lives Matter protests happening where I am, in Glasgow (& other areas including in England nd too) this Sunday and I support the awareness it raises whole heartedly, however we are in the mist of covid19 and following guidelines on the day (masks/social distancing) may be difficult, I don't think loosing anymore lives will prove any points... So here is my idea for those who want to support but can't attend... At 1pm on Sunday the 7th of June, I encourage everyone to show their solidarity by walking out your front door to your kirb side and get on one knee in silence for one minute. Take a photo & share on social media with hashtag #ScotlandSaysBlackLivesMatter to raise awareness. This can be adjusted to your home town eg:#BrightonSaysBlackLivesMatter It's time us white people stopped saying "I'm not racist" and showed it, by being anti racist 🙏🏻 🏳️‍🌈🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 ✊🏻✊🏼✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿

Brighton & Hove Pride - Official Page now is not the time for you to be standing by Black folks, PoC and QTIPoC - it's always been the time. What actions do you pledge to take in response? I would ask you to go one step further and admit that Brighton Pride has historically been guilty of excluding PoC year after year in its delivery and decision-making. It is this inability to publicly admit liability - to actually say in writing 'we're sorry because we've been doing it too all this time, we've contributed to upholding structural racism and regular everyday racism (rife in Brighton's gay scene) - this is what is common to all of our institutions right now, which is why it feels so performative. If you can manage to do it, I will be among the first to thank you for it.

JUSTICE FOR GEORGE FLOYD! #JusticeforGeorgeFloyd #SayMyName Hello, I hope you will have a spare minute to help me. As we all probably heard on the news, another black life was taken for no reason in Minneapolis, US on May the 25th. I just launched this petition online to make our voices heard in order to rend justice to this atrocity. It will only take you one minute to sign and please help me to share as much as possible. I'd be very grateful, thank you very much! Vincenzo www.change.org/p/civil-rights-movement-george-floyd-say-my-name?recruiter=493360374&utm_source=sh...
