Boardmasters 2017 After Movie has just landed, so it’s time to kick back, and relive all those memories from an unforgettable five days on the Cornish coastline, while Hein Cooper serenades with a live recording of ‘Rusty’ direct from Watergate Beach. A sold-out Boardmasters opened for another year this August, with exhilarating surf action and world-class live music across two simply stunning sites in Cornwall. The UK’s surf mecca of Fistral Beach played host to the biggest surf competition of its kind in the UK, while the sun-drenched headland at Watergate Bay brought unforgettable, supersize gigs from huge names including headliners Two Door Cinema Club, Jamiroquai and Alt-J.
The Cornish coast was a truly picture-perfect a backdrop, with unrivalled sunsets and breath taking views to enjoy whilst soaking up music from huge names from headliners and others including The Flaming Lips, The Vaccines, JP Cooper, Laura Mvula, Giggs, Loyle Carner, Daisy Clarke, A Blaze of Feather and many more. In what was Boardmasters biggest year to date, the music site at Watergate Bay increased in capacity from 45,000 to 50,000 welcoming more festivalgoers than ever before. Meanwhile, Fistral Beach saw record numbers descend to check out the very best in international surfing, which saw Boardmasters ambassadors Lucy Campbell and Luke Dillon battle it out against fellow pro surfers.
Established in 1981, Boardmasters is a 5-day event situated across two stunning locations in Cornwall – the surfing mecca of the UK, Fistral Beach where Boardmasters famous International Surf Competitions take place and arguably the most stunning location in the country to watch live music, Watergate Bay. This year saw Boardmasters welcome more than 150,000 festivalgoers across its two sites over the 5 days of the festival.
