The Blue Planet has been influential in raising awareness for the plastic pollution in our oceans, highlighting the fragility of our pale blue dot. Beginning a plastic revolution, British Antarctic Survey’s bird ecologist Dr Lucy Quinn and BBC Natural History TV producer Yoland Bosiger open #BD18 on the Thursday with Blue Planet II: Untold Stories from Magical Worlds, discussing how the team chose new and ground-breaking stories from the oceans, capturing behaviour never seen before, and the effect plastic pollution has on seabirds and beyond.
