Tbh I slightly disagree. The fragility of the human race has been demonstrated. The planet is loving it, less pollution, nature thriving, animals moving to hitherto off limits areas. I repeat, planet is fine. Humans are screwed 😘

There is a train of thought amongst emergency workers that the lockdown will be another 12 weeks which takes us into July. This is the right decision here and now, but don't be at all surprised if we're all still at home at the end of June.

Well done on making a tough decision. You will be well supported next year because you have been considerate of festival goers. See you next year.

Roll on July 2021! Tough decision but the right one. See you then!

We knew it was inevitable. Stay safe and see you next year xx

See you in 2021 x

Can’t wait to see you in 2021! It will be one hell of a celebration after this year! Keep safe everyone x

Sad but the right decision ultimately. Well done Bluedot making this difficult decision.

I think even 2021 may be optimistic. Suggestions are that mass gatherings won't be allowed until there is a vaccine which could be 18 months away

Completely understand. Guess I'll just have to postpone my 50th birthday also for a year as this was my celebration weekend 😀

Absolutely the right decision and see you next year ❤️

What happens concerning my 15 year old who will then be 16 in 2021? Is his current ticket still going to be honoured?

Are weekend tickets still available to buy for next year?

Totally understandable and the right decision. See you 2021 🙌

Jennifer - got our 2021 festival sorted! 😁

Hope you will have Tim peake, he was my main reason for buying tickets x

Gutted but expected going to carry on paying our remaining instalments this year may help you with cash flow and it will feel like a freebie next year 👍

So so sad that we will not be sleeping under the Lovell Telescope this year but completely the right decision made. Much love to all of the Bluedot family and see you in 2021 for the best one yet! Stay safe 💙🔵🌍

Totally the right decision, particularly from a festival with science at its heart. It must have been hard but I am sure you feel relieved too. On to better times.

Good decision - fingers crossed Squarepusher and Daniel Avery can make next year

I’m keeping my tickets and Björk is still coming next year so it’s all good.

Ah what about kids tickets? Now over 11 but you have an under 11 ticket?

Absolutely the correct and most socially responsible decision.really good that your headliners have already agreed to play in 2010. All the best to all that make Bluedot happen from the main team to the stewards, staging suppliers to food stalls. See you in 2021.

I booked tickets for me and my son, but next year will be my 40th and his 18th so atleast we're now ahead of the game for our celebrating and lots to look forward to 🙂

Tough decision but I'm so glad you've got the headliners booked in for next year - I'll see you then, stay safe everyone xx

Sad to hear that Bluedot Festival but great work in securing the headliners for next years dates xx

Glad to see this catching on, makes things so much easier

  3. Jules Bristow says:

Will the wristbands be removable? I’m coming to the festival as the assistant of someone who uses a wheelchair and often needs me to go and fetch things like food or drink for her due to pain, fatigue or just because it’s quicker than going herself. The previous years we’ve been she just gave me her wallet. Will she be able to give me her wristband this year to pay?

  4. Sim Rusty Craver says:

    Does unused credit get refunded?

Can’t believe more UK festivals don’t do this already, so much simpler than carrying cash (and losing it in my case). 👏

    Worked well at fyre festival

  21. Simön Dixön says:

Oh dear, had bad experiences in the past. Can you point us to directions, terms, costs, charges etc

  22. Damian Tichborne says:

Given that contactless is so widespread now, why is having to put in more than you’ll spend in advance, then claim a refund for the rest (minus £1) at the end a good idea?

  23. Pete Wilson says:

    I’m going Saturday 😊

  24. Jack Irlam says:

Lose your wristband, lose your money?

  25. Maximillian Aronofsky says:

Wow, I’m in. What say Denise Scappaticci, all in for the full experience…? x

  26. Norma Kielty-Crummey says:

So the bar staff wont be able to be tipped?

  27. Lee Rawlings says:

    so my cash is useless?

  28. Lee Rawlings says:

wait do we have now book the talks in advance? please say that isnt the case

  29. Andrew Banner says:

This is a mad idea in the extreme. Just who does this benefit? Not me for sure. If I want to give my children a tenner, I reach into my.pocket and pull out a couple of tenners. Now my cash is pointless as you don’t want it. That’s fine as the festival is expensive enough as it is, so we will just cut our spending at the event to nothing. I don’t like the idea that you will collect masses of data about my or my family’s spending, I deplore the idea that if there is money left of the band at the end that I have to claim it back and within a month else I probably won’t get it. As a live-in vehicle attendant, I can easily avoid spending money there and I suspect that I will not be the only one with such views.

Given that this news has been launched just a month before the event which is an effective change in the offering which we have no option of opting out of, will you give me a refund of my tickets as I am now not looking forward to this.

Anyone who thinks this is a sound idea needs to carefully think about the privacy issues and the huge amount of data you are giving up.

  30. Emma Archer says:

Ian Merry Kirsti Allport this is a good idea, not long now 😁 x

  31. Jane Black says:

Megan are you going to Bluedot? We’re all there

  32. Vivienne Vivienne says:

None of these ideas seem simple, cash is extremely simple to manage so why people want to use anything else is a mystery
