A brand new Book Festival is coming to Berkhamsted – and it’s set to be a smash!
The BerkoFest Book Festival, brought to you by the organisers of the ever-popular BerkoFestis taking place on Sunday 12th May at Berkhamsted Town Hall and Rectory Lane Cemetery.
Top fiction authors including Lisa Jewell, Erin Kelly, Stuart Turton, Lucy Vine and Rowan Coleman will be appearing alongside sport, food, well-being and children’s writers.
For the kids, comedian and author Olaf Falafel will be taking centre stage with his own wacky brand of workshops and jokes, Carnegie award-winning children’s author Theresa Breslin will be appearing at the cemetery, and a children’s story writing competition will be launched on the day with some amazing prizes on offer.
Well-loved faces from the sporting and culinary world will also make an appearance, including ex-international cricketer Derek Pringle and the food and wine broadcaster Nigel Barden.
Throughout the day there will be talks, panels and fun, interactive workshops including comedy improv, acting, wellbeing and aromatherapy. You’ll also have the chance to have antiquarian books valued by Giles Lyon, proprietor of the famous World’s End bookshop in London.
‘We’re so thrilled to have such a great line-up, and hope that people will come along and have a great day,’ says organiser Charlie Hussey. ‘Let’s hope this is the beginning of an annual, and growing, book event.’
Tickets will be just £5 for adults, £3 for under 18s, while under 13s are free and a special advance offer of a pair of adult tickets at £7.50. A full line-up with timings will be released before the event so you don’t miss your favourite authors and workshops, although events will be on a first-come first-served basis.
