We are delighted to extend our congratulations to Hastings Pier for winning the acclaimed RIBA Stirling Prize. We knew that the Pier was a unique and stunning setting for our Beano festival and promoted it just as much a star of our event as any of the performers. For us it is bittersweet to have this endorsed as we were unable to fully experience our ‘more than a gig on a pier’ concept. As with any outdoor blank canvas, we knew we had many challenges to face in getting the event going. However the one aspect out of our control was the unruly weather and Mother Nature was very cruel to us all that weekend.
Behind the scenes, Pier staff, volunteers, stage and technical crews worked tirelessly with us battling challenging conditions to make as much happen as possible and we cannot thank them enough. Most importantly we salute every single music fan who supported our event and appreciated the Beano ethic of quality bands on a bespoke venue.
As massive music fans and unbacked, independent promoters, it has long been our dream and passion for many years to organise this event and we wanted it to be special. It has been a very personal struggle, not just financially but a test on our nerve and character. Through the mixed bag of emotions we can honestly say we have learnt and grown more than we could have ever imagined. * Advice for any budding festival promoters, this is not for the faint hearted!
We are proud that despite our own losses we remained fully committed in our financial support of the Pier Charity and are encouraged to hear that the Board are looking to improve their business model. We hope that the prestigious awards that the Pier has won this year will attract new and innovative ideas in using this amazing space. With the support of local businesses and community, this will ensure that it can remain financially sustainable for years to come.
For us, we will keep on keeping on and hope to see you at an event soon, don’t know where, don’t where when. Who knows what may be round the corner.....?

Saturday was great, Reef were amazing, really enjoyed it.
Gutted I missed it I truly am✌🏼️
It was a fantastic event to play a part in and you handled the challenges brilliantly. Onwards and upwards guys! X
We had a brilliant time, the weather was really unkind to you. I’d definitely come again 🙂 x
Could you not try to book the pier for a summer weekend, can't guarantee the weather but less likely to be gales?
Your event and seismic efforts were still a success for us....loved what we saw, loved the pier and hastings itself..and dodgy kept us smilin the next day...
You did a sterling job, pity about the weather 😎😎
Loved every minute 😍
Deffo with the sentiments you can't predict the weather and sat was awesome x
We loved what we saw!
Well done anyway
Saturday night was a very nice experience. It was good that I went from Japan.
It was a great event mate even if it was just one main day! Enjoyed it immensely.
Top work x
We still had a great weekend, particularly enjoyed Space and Dodgy. Your vision was great: we love Hastings and if only you'd been a bit luckier with the weather it would have been something really special. If you do it again we are definitely there 🙂
Bingo Bango! Even though we only saw one night of mighty 90’s tunes, we would certainly consider booking again if you guys put something together. And on top of that, Hastings old town is bloody gorgeous!
One of the best weekends of the year, despite the shitty weather. Thank f*ck for the after parties. Fingers crossed for something next year 🙂
The Dodgy 'pop up' gig will not affect any refunds. Massive thanks to the boys for making the trip.
Of course its free, we think we should prioritise weekenders and we hope lots can get in! ... See MoreSee Less
