Portals Festival - yndi halda/Totorro/Talons & more

Portals Festival - yndi halda/Totorro/Talons & more

Jun 16, 12:00pm - Jun 17, 11:00pm

Absolutely delighted to announce the first Portals Festival of experimental rock!

Two full days of incredible math/post/experimental rock alternating over two stages, so you shouldn't miss out on a second of music.

A lovely courtyard and beer garden between the stages will house food vendors for your culinary pleasure.

THE LINEUP:

yndi halda - Lengendary post-rock band yndi halda will headline the festival and play the closing set of the weekend. The band rose to prominence with their 2005 masterpiece 'Enjoy Eternal Bliss', which was followed up last year with the equally brilliant 'Under Summer'.
FFO: Mogwai, Mono

TOTORRO - French math-rock giants Totorro bring a whirlwind of fresh and upbeat math-rock sounds. This band never ceases to amaze.
FFO: TTNG, Hella

Talons - 6-piece Hereford instrumental group Talons bring ferocious orchestral post-rock. Talons headlined Portals 4 and were absolutely amazing. We can’t wait to have them back.
FFO: Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Mogwai

Axes - One of our absolute favourite live bands, Axes bring together playful intricacies with furious riffs and hooks in a joyous sound to tickle the senses. Possibly the tightest live band around.
FFO: Giraffes? Giraffes!, Delta Sleep

Alpha Male Tea Party - Liverpool favourites AMTP have risen to become one of the most exciting experimental/math-rock bands in the country. They've blown us away 4 times at ArcTanGent Festival.
FFO: Tera Melos, Brontide

Her name is Calla - Headlined Portals in May 2017 and showed their unique folk/post-rock brilliance. This set will be an extra special set as the band will play their debut album 'The Heritage' in its entirety to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of its release, joined by The Monroe Transfer.
FFO: Sigur Ros, yndi halda

VALERIAN SWING - Expansive, experimental post-rock with a heavy twist, Italians Valerian Swing come back to the UK showcase their mindblowing live set.
FFO: Russian Circles, Lite

Big Lad - Gnarly, electronic noise-math, Big Lad feature cascading grooves with dark synth textures that will surprise and intrigue in equal measure
FFO: Three Trapped Tigers, Aphex Twin,

Suffer Like G Did - Math-rock legends SLGD bring jazzy grooves, winding time signature changes and splendid riffs. They’ve finally reformed after more than three years away.
FFO: TTNG, Minus the Bear

VLMV - Combining sumptuous melodies with soaring vocals and waves of loops, drenched in reverb, this will be a sumptuous treat.
FFO: Nordic Giants, Sigur Ros

Body Hound - A joy to watch, their blistering riffs and technical mastery will shock and awe you in equal measure.
FFO: Adebisi Shank, ASIWYFA

Lost in the Riots - Possibly Watford’s finest export, instrumental rock quartet Lost in the Riots abound with giant
riffs and seamless precision. Their upcoming album ‘Bonds’ will be released in 2018 and we can’t wait!
FFO: And So I Watch You From Afar, Adebisi Shank

The Hyena Kill - They will bring the noise. The drums/guitar duo combine thunderous riffs with exploding distortion and a rhythm section harder than a hammer.
FFO: Tool, Deftones, Brutus

Pijn - Massive post-metal from Manchester, prepare to be blown away.
FFO: Russian Circles, Deafheaven

Natalie Evans - Tender and charming fingerstyle acoustic songwriting with lots of harp added for good measure, Natalie Evans is always a joy to behold.
FFO: Delta Sleep, Yvette Young

Tomorrow We Sail - Stunning post-rock with a folk undertone, Tomorrow We Sail spark deep passions and heartfelt crescendos.
FFO: Thee Silver Mt. Zion, Sigur Ros
