In honour of the ultimate anti-footballer, socio-political activist and godfather of football cool, Disco Socrates is a one-day festival exploring music culture and its social and political impact around the globe.

Part of Liverpool's Art Of Football festival, DISCO SOCRATES will feature live music, DJ sets, panel discussions and film screenings.

Art of Football is a celebration of the creative culture and social fabric which underpins the beautiful game. The festival programme explores the ritualistic experience of fandom, to the tapestries and soundtracks of the terraces, as each facet of the modern human condition is seen through the prism of the world's most beloved sport.

Curators Bido Lito! have assembled a stunning line-up featuring WAYNE SNOW (Nigeria), Oko Ebombo (France), Rozzma (Egypt), Gomnam (Iran) and a select selection of selectors bringing the global sounds of the World Cup: Andy Votel's Subtropical Psychout, Richie Vegas (Oyé Players), Anti Social Jazz Club, Radio Exotica + Medicine Men.

There's also a free programme of daytime actvitiy in the Constellations Garden, featuring a screening of the film They Will Have To Kill Us First: Malian Music in Exile, a panel discussion with Africa Oyé and Bido Lito! ('Can Music Save The World?') and both last 16 World Cup games screened live!

Fantastic day

Really enjoyed it!

Not only was my DJ spot so much fun this year with greatly improved set up and sound but the expression on the face of my 15 month old granddaughter in this photo sums up the joy this festival brings. She absolutely loved it.
