Latest update from Africa Oye Festival

Talibe Trust are building a self- sustainable school for 250 children in rural Senegal. They have been gifted the land to build on, have the costings for the school build, agricultural work and equipment and agricultural placements.

They are now looking to raise £5000 to enable their team: (project co-ordinator, two Agricultural Specialists from SAFAD, Cranfield University and a documentary reporter) to carry out necessary, preliminary work on the build site in rural Senegal for over 2 weeks in October. The funding will cover flights, geo-technical equipment, travel, food, and accomodation. They will be surveying the land, finalising plans with the community, liaising with the local authorities and building contractors.

To support this fantastic project with a donation for as little as £1, click the image below!

Since March 2020 thousands of live events, concerts and festivals have been canceled or postponed worldwide due to the impact of the COVID-19.

Over 600 African musicians had been booked for performances around the world in 2020. It is uncertain when next it will be possible to hold live events.

Over 85% of these musicians' income comes from live performances. These musicians have lost an estimated 6m Euros in projected revenues.

Africa Oyé is proudly supporting the #SOULidarity Campaign, which aims to create a fund that will provide basic relief income to sustain the affected African musicians.

We will be releasing full details of the campaign and our involvement soon, but we wanted to get this message out now as the deadline for ARTISTS to sign up to be eligible for the fund is Friday 31st July, 2020.

If you know an act who could benefit from this fund, please encourage them to apply ASAP here: www.soulidarity.org
