The Thairrito Challenge
March 18, 2018 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm
To celebrate the end of VAULT Festival 2018, the festival are teaming up with in house food marvels PopCo for an extreme eating competition, the likes of which has never been tried before. It’s THE THAIRRITO CHALLENGE.
So what EXACTLY is a Thairrito? Imagine the two best culinary delights from the East and West, smashed together to form a new, delicious monstrous snack. Yes people- we’re talking tasty thai curry meets a big bad burrito, creating the GIANT THAIRRITO. It’s made by gluing four tortillas, filled with traditional refried pinto beans, lemongrass and ginger jasmine rice, thai red kidney bean curry or thai green chicken curry, spring onions, mild tomato salsa, superfine 2 cabbage slaw, fried shallots and fresh coriander.
Hosted by punishment wielding Vaulty Towers quiz host Amy Bee Sting , each contestant will receive a thairrito weighing 1.5kg and will have twelve minutes to demolish the monstrous meal- and the beast to complete it first will be crowned King or Queen of the Thairrito challenge.
The prize? As well as the fame, glory and your new found gut busting out of your pants, the winner of this culinary challenge will win an extra special VAULT Festival pass for 2019 – a pass that will allow you to see as many shows as you like for the entire run free of charge. With VAULT Festival merch thrown in for the runners up- food & theatre lovers this contest is for you!

The Vaults- Leake St London
PopCo are Chavdar Todorov and Steven Estevez, two chefs who met while working in a local restaurant in Stoke Newington. After years working in some of London’s top restaurants, providing high end corporate catering and generally trying to find the balance in life, they decided to start on their own. Since, they’ve ran a popup supper club, a variety of food events in The Vaults, a street food stall on Lower marsh and man the kitchen of the funkiest pub in town – Vaulty Towers. In short: They’re the local boys! For VAULT Festival, PopCo is teaming up with Steven’s brother Adam Estevez to create a selection of easy going delicious munchies.
