Funding A Start – Up Business
January 15, 2018 @ 3:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Aged 18 – 24?
Starting a business can be a daunting prospect and requires a level of start up capital to progress the idea and build the foundations. Many creative and digital businesses seek financial funds from external resources to get their ideas to fruition and this session will cover which avenues of raising finance are applicable to a new start up as well as other non financial support options such as mentoring and business support.
Popping into the session first will be Sunderland Software City who have supported the growth of over 500 North East software companies since 2008 with support, expertise and training solutions to help start and grow businesses.
Julie Skevington, director of Sincero Business Growth and Funding Solutions Ltd will also be popping in. Julie can discuss and explain the different funding avenues to explore with a wealth of experience to help offer practical advice and support to pre-start up businesses. Working with Transmit Start-Ups a national delivery partner of the Start-Up Loans Company (a Government initiative set up in 2012) Julie can help you find the most appropriate funding solutions to allow you to concentrate on running your business in these early stages. Plus hear Julie’s story of her own journey through the regions Entrepreneurial Spark programme.
Finally, Enterprise Mentor Lee will be discussing the support TEDCO can offer to new start up businesses. TEDCO based at Sunderland’s Business Innovation Centre have helped thousands of businesses to start, grow and achieve sustainable business success in the last five years. They are delivery partners with Virgin Start Up too, providing low cost loans, advice, resources and support with a number of programmes through out the region.
How are you going to fund and support your new business in 2018?
There will be an opportunity at the end of the session at 7pm for existing Ladder students to have 1-2-1’s or further discussions with mentor Lee Casey.
Ladders is aimed at helping 18-24 year olds get a foot in the door. Over the course of 12 weeks, you’ll work with an industry mentor to develop your skills in either film, music or software development. You’ll learn valuable employability skills, develop your CV, visit local companies, and build that all-important network.
The next Ladders course starts in February 2018. If you’d like to know more about how we can help you kick start your career then visit our website HERE or feel free to message me with enquiries at email@example.com
Ladders is part of ‘Digital Futures’, Generator’s business support programme that is designed to meet the business development needs of the North East’s creative and digital businesses. This programme is part-funded by England European Regional Development Fund as part of the European Structural and Investment Funds Growth Programme 2014-2020.
