Camp Bestival Dorset Announce HMS Camp Bestival Stage with Stellar Line-up for 15th Birthday Celebrations.

Gok Wan, Fat Tony, Woody Cook, CMAT, Sam Tompkins, and Krystal Roxx are amongst additional artists joining Grace Jones, Craig David Presents TS5, and The Kooks as headliners, as second line-up is now released.

Camp Bestival Dorset, the UK’s favourite family festival, is returning to Lulworth Castle in July (27 – 30 July 2023) for an extra-special 15th Birthday bash extravaganza, with the return of the fan-favourite HMS Camp Bestival stage and an epic debut line-up to match with Fat Tony, Woody Cook, Jaguar Skills, as well as Gok Wan back-to-back with festival curator and DJ Rob da Bank.

On the Saturday of Camp Bestival’s massive birthday weekender dancers, pyrotechnics, and huge party vibes will descend onto the Lulworth Castle grounds as the HMS Camp Bestival stage will dock in the Magical Meadows. The enormous cruise ship stage will have a line up expected to get the crowd (or boat…) rocking with Captain Rob da Bank manning the helm alongside his first mate Gok Wan with a 15th birthday B2B special. Marawa’s Majorettes, the troupe of amazing world record holding hoopers, will also be dazzling the crowds with their epic hooping.

Living legend Fat Tony will also be bringing his infamous Ibiza vibes to the decks of the HMS Camp Bestival stage, as well as Woody Cook of the ‘Fatboy Slim’ DJ dynasty, who will energise festival go-ers with his energetic anthems. Jaguar Skills will be launching his pot of birthday bangers to the crowds with a very special Camp Bestival 15th birthday mashup and if that’s not enough, 24 Hour Garage Girls (feat. SHOSH) will take the crowd late into the night with their original flavour of Bassline and UK Garage beats. It’s time to drop the anchor…

Speaking on Camp Bestival Dorset’s HMS Camp Bestival announcement, Camp Bestival curator’s Rob & Josie da Bank said: “Paaaaarrrrtttyyy! Can you believe it?! We’ve been 15 years down in Dorset! and, as you know, we love any excuse for a party, but this is a good one. Not a bad age to reach in festival years and to be this old (or maybe this young?!) so we’re going all out with a major new stage and some ace talent additions. First up we’re bringing our ship into the fields of Lulworth – yup that’s right Josie and her creative gang are dusting off HMS Camp Bestival (our beloved boat from The Port stage at Bestival), giving her a brand new look and sailing her up The Solent to moor up at Camp Bestival Dorset 2023. This is honestly one of the funnest, coolest looking stages out there in festival land and we’re gonna have some serious naughty nautical antics aboard! Gok Wan blew us all away with his high energy DJ set last year and he’s kindly agreed to let me go back-to-back with him onboard! We also have Fat Tony – a legend in his own lifetime – and someone who knows how to rip up a party, plus we have the amazing and practically Camp Bestival resident Jaguar Skills and 24 Hour Garage Girls, plus a special shout to Woody Cook, joining us for his inaugural DJ set. Anchors aweigh and look shipshape me hearties! See you there.”

Speaking on the 15th birthday celebrations, Gok Wan said: “Family, vibrant, exhilarating and discovery are just some of the superlatives that you can say about Camp Bestival, one of the finest curated events this country has to offer, it was without a doubt up there as 1 of the top 3 events I did in the summer of 2022.

It’s no mean feat in a hugely competitive market to get to a 15th birthday and still be as relevant and loved as they are. Big love to Rob da Bank and his incredible team, here’s to 15 more.”

House legend Fat Tony said: “Can’t believe it’s been 15 years of Camp Bestival. What an honour to be playing this year. This is absolutely going to be one of my highlights of the summer and I’m excited to be part of the wider Bestival family!”

Musical excellence, creative diversity and fun keeps on coming for the Dorset jamboree with new line-up additions cementing the all-encompassing family festi-holiday experience including rising star Sam Tompkins, esteemed DJ and Producer Krystal Roxx and Camp Bestival-favourites; Dub Pistols. The original family ravers, Big Fish Little Fish, will also be gracing the Lulworth fields once again with their legendary family rave experience.

New to the Camp Bestival line-up is also Vote Pedro, a mariachi duo who will bring the tequila-filled Mexican sunshine madness to Dorset. Bowie Disco will also offer adults and teens a total #throwback blast to the past with legendary Bowie tunes throughout the weekend. The whole family will also be able to enjoy the high energy and euphoric pop & fancy-dress party brought to the Jurassic Coast by Club de Fromage.

Elsewhere on the latest line-up additions festival go-ers can expect House, Disco & Funk Queen DJ Emma, party starters Sombrero Sound System, as well as a plethora of DJs including Phat Phil Cooper, Jemma Bolt, Rhythm of the 90s, Jim8track, Bobbin and Darren Davies.

These latest additions build on the already announced headliners Grace Jones, Craig David Presents TS5 and The Kooks plus iconic acts Confidence Man, Melanie C, Sophie Ellis-Bextor as well as Sam Ryder and Ella Henderson. On top of this, Dick & Dom, Cosmic Kids Yoga, Junior Jungle and Mr Tumble will entertain families of all ages at the unmissable four-day celebration.

A festival for every family, Camp Bestival has entertained crowds for 15 years with genre spanning line-ups combined with circus spectacles, comedy, activities, firework finales as well as a dedicated wellbeing area – all located in the beautiful, spacious environment of Lulworth Castle. This year, the space will be transformed into a magical menagerie for the whole family to let their inner animals shine with an all new ‘Animal Snap’ theme announced last month. Tying in with the animal theme, Camp Bestival will also partner with World Wildlife Fund (WWF) for 2023’s edition of the festival.

Louise Oakley, Director of Events and Community Fundraising at WWF said: “Across the world, and in the UK, nature is on its knees. Half of all UK native species are in decline, and population sizes of global wildlife have plummeted by 69% on average since 1970.

“But it isn’t too late to turn things around. WWF is delighted to be working with Camp Bestival this year to share our work with festival-goers and get vital support to bring our world back to life by protecting and restoring species and habitats for the benefit of future generations.”

2023 will also mark the second year of Camp Bestival Shropshire (17 – 20 August 2023); a stand-alone sister festival to Camp Bestival Dorset taking place in Weston Park in August, with a particular focus on Nature and Wellbeing with Paddleboarding, Slow Motion Area, yoga and lots more – watch this space for a bigger and better Camp Bestival Shropshire 2023!
