NME Festival blog: Zayn explores love and loss in new video for heartbreaker single, ‘Satisfaction’

The pop star is also gearing up to head back out on tour

Zayn has unveiled the new video for his emotional new single, ‘Satisfaction’. Check it out below.

The former One Direction star released ‘Icarus Falls‘  – his second album as a solo artist – last month. In a four-star review, NME concluded: “A 27-track mosaic to be poured over time and again, ‘Icarus Falls’ is the pop star cementing himself in the echelon of stardom.”

Now, following the release of ‘There You Are’, Zayn has shared the official video to the slow-burning ballad ‘Satisfaction’.

Directed by Bouha Kazm, the tranquil visuals explore the tragedy of losing a loved one – with Zayn only appearing occasionally across its four-minute duration.

The clip opens with a quote from the singer’s 2016 track, ‘Intermission: Flower’. “Until the flower of this love has blossomed, this heart won’t be at peace,” the text reads across a black screen.

Meanwhile, Zayn took to Twitter last week to say that he “can not wait to get on stage”, adding that he’s “feelin ready” to head back out on the road. Check out the tweet below.

Speaking of ‘Icarus Falls‘ following its completion last year, Zayn said: “It’s a bit different to my last record in terms of it’s matured, [I’ve] got a bit older. I didn’t know what was going on for a while. I was just putting out a record and not really being as prominent as I wanted to be.”

Elsewhere, the pop star described his new material as “more organised”. “I feel like my songwriting definitely developed, just because I’ve been doing it so much,” he said.
