The League of Gentlemen made a long-awaited comeback with their three-part return this month, and it now seems that they may be the last ever episodes of the show.
The dark comedy originally ran for three series between 1999 and 2002, and had a big-screen outing in 2005’s The League of Gentlemen’s Apocalypse.
It made a return this month with three episodes airing between December 18 and 20, and they were pretty well-received by audiences and critics alike.
But despite the generally positive response, it seems that there will never be a return trip to Royston Vasey on TV.
Producer Adam Tandy described the three specials as “very much the end of the line” in a pair of tweets saying farewell to the characters.
However, it isn’t a complete goodbye, as you can see The League of Gentlemen on stage when they return to their roots as a live show, which was announced earlier this year.
“We’re overjoyed to be taking the citizens of Royston Vasey on a road-trip and can’t wait to see all the wonderful local places in our increasingly local country,” the team said in a statement
“Plus we’d already gone to the trouble of getting the costumes and learning the voices again for the TV show so we thought why not? Something to do isn’t it?”
