NME Festival blog: Sam Fender announces massive arena tour for spring 2020


They’re his biggest shows to date.

Sam Fender has announced details of his biggest tour to date for Spring 2020 – including shows at London’s Alexandra Palace and Newcastle Arena.

The ‘Hypersonic Missiles’ singer will head out again across March and April, after selling out a forthcoming tour of the UK and Ireland later this year, which will see him perform four nights at Newcastle’s O2 Academy.

Check out the dates in full below, ahead of tickets going on sale here from Friday September 27.

MARCH 2020
20th – O2 Victoria Warehouse, Manchester
21st – O2 Victoria Warehouse, Manchester
23rd – Barrowland Ballroom, Glasgow
24th – Barrowland Ballroom, Glasgow
27th – Alexandra Palace, London
30th – De Montfort Hall, Leicester
31st – Motorpoint Arena, Cardiff

APRIL
2nd –First Direct Arena, Leeds
3rd – Utilita Arena, Newcastle

The tour announcement comes after Fender teased the Ally Pally show with a video that saw him sitting outside the iconic London venue while he and his band ate sweets.

“We haven’t done a palace yet, have we?” he asks.

“Is there any palaces around here?” he continues. “There’s not, is there? There’s Buckingham Palace. Cannot do a gig there because the Queen would fucking kick the shit out of wu.”

Meanwhile, Sam Fender went straight to the top of the Official UK Albums Chart on Friday (September 20), claiming his first Number One album.

The North Shields musician released his debut album ‘Hypersonic Missiles’ last week (September 13) after being named the BRITs Critics’ Choice winner in December 2018.
