Mr Robot has been officially renewed for a fourth season.
The hit US show stars lead actor Rami Malek, who plays Elliot Alderson, a hacker who becomes involved with a hacktivist group called “fsociety” led by insurrectionary anarchist leader Mr Robot (played by Christian Slater).
Its third season premiered in October and its finale airs tonight (December 13). Coinciding with the current season’s final episode, it was announced on Twitter that the show would return for a fourth outing.
A teaser trailer was posted to the official Mr Robot Twitter account, along with the caption: “We have plenty more battles to fight. #MrRobot has been renewed for season_4.0.”
Meanwhile, the show’s creator Sam Esmail has teased season four on Instagram, also revealing that the writing team had already started work on the season.
“Calm down everyone. #MrRobot season_4.0 writers’ room is officially open for business,“ Esmail said in a caption to a photo of the staff.
Esmail previously suggested that the show would run for five seasons in total.
Mr Robot airs on the USA Network in the US and Amazon Prime in the UK. First airing in May 2015, the show also stars Portia Doubleday, Carly Chaikin, Martin Wallström, Grace Gummer, Michael Cristofer, Bobby Cannavale and BD Wong.
