The Third Man Records honcho paid tribute to The King
The musician, who also runs the Third Man Records label, was a guest on the season finale of Malcolm Gladwell’s Revisionist History.
During the recording, he also played a snippet of the track ‘Love Me’, which Elvis popularised and White used to play at coffee houses as a teenager. He also performed ‘Are You Lonesome Tonight’ in full. Listen to the podcast here – White’s section begins at the 20 minute and 50 seconds mark.
“Sometimes I love him so much that I’m afraid to learn more about certain things,” White said on the podcast. “You’re so close to it and you’ve experienced certain things – nothing compared to what he went through – but we do the same kind of thing.
“We perform and we go on stages and we make records and all this stuff. I’m from a different time period, but you notice all these tiny little moments when you see certain things where it’s like, ‘I know exactly what that’s about or what that feels like.’”
The video is set in rural America, which kicks off with detectives investigating a crime scene in a grand country house as the camera then pans to a lifeless White, who appears to have been mysteriously murdered.
The musician is set to tour the UK in October. Tickets are available to purchase here.
