NME Festival blog: Lily Allen dedicates ‘Fuck You’ to Piers Morgan, covers Cher at London show

Lily Allen dedicated ‘Fuck You’ to Piers Morgan and covered Cher’s hit ‘Believe’ during a show at London’s Heaven last night (June 9). Check out footage below.

Celebrating the release of her new album ‘No Shame‘, the ‘Smile’ singer took to the stage for a special G-A-Y show. During the gig, she is said to have sent a very clear message to Piers Morgan while performing the 2009 track ‘Fuck You’.

One fan commented: “Lily Allen dedicating ‘Fuck You’ to Piers Morgan really made my night”, while another hailed it as “a moment”.

Morgan clashed with Allen on Twitter earlier this month, after she was seen wearing a necklace shaped like an AK-47 rifle. “Why have you got a machine gun around your neck?” the Good Morning Britain host asked. Allen replied: “I’ll stop wearing the necklace when you apologise for hacking the phones of dead children. Deal ?”

Allen’s planned appearance on GMB was cancelled following the spat, which the singer called “a misogynistic abuse of power”.

Elsewhere in the show last night, Allen gave a rendition of Cher’s autotune-loving 1999 megahit, ‘Believe’.

Meanwhile, Allen spoke to NME upon the release of her new record. During The Big Read interview, the singer discussed her divorce, Twitter and her relationship with the tabloids. She also hit back at criticisms that her involvement in social issues is made disingenuous due to her being ‘rich’ – saying that she is “a million pounds in debt”.

Lily Allen has also confirmed a UK tour in support of ‘No Shame’ – find tickets here. The string of shows will conclude with a performance at London’s Roundhouse on December 17. Check out the full schedule below.
