Frances married Isaiah Silva back in June of 2014. The couple were together for five years and married for less than two when Frances filed for divorce in March 2016.
While the pair officially divorced back in November, Cobain’s guitar has been at the centre of the two-year legal battle.
Silva claims that Frances gave him the guitar as a gift and that he had the instrument in his possession when she filed for divorce in March 2016.
Last year, Frances filed documents asking the judge to put pressure on Silva to return the guitar in the settlement. However, it has now been revealed that Silva will get to keep the guitar in the final settlement.
Meanwhile, Frances is focusing on her own music career after previewing an original song on her Instagram account.
Speaking to E! last month (April 8), Frances said she thinks of herself as both a musician and a visual artist. She also stated that her Instagram clip was not an “official release”, but that she wants to release something “palpable” in the future.
“With regards to music, I don’t want to pigeon hole myself and say I am a musician or a visual artist because I feel like it’s all encompassing and I feel like every bit of my art is related to the other,” she said.
“So do I want to pursue my music further and see it come to fruition and see something further and see something palpable? Absolutely. Do I want to say that was an official release? No, it was an Instagram post.”
Asked what her father would think of her foray into music, Frances replied: “I don’t have an answer for that because I don’t want to speak on someone else’s behalf. I would hope that he would be proud of the human being I am even if he didn’t like the art I am putting out. That’s all I would ask of anyone in my life.”
