Video footage appears to show Homme kicking Chelsea Lauren’s camera out of her hands at a concert in LA
The band played at The Forum in Los Angeles as part of KROQ’s Almost Acoustic Christmas 2017 event.
Video footage from the concert appears to show Homme trying to kick the camera out of Chelsea Lauren’s hands during the fourth song of their set, ‘The Evil Has Landed’. Watch it below, via Consequence Of Sound.
Lauren posted the video on her Facebook and Instagram pages, writing: “Thanks to @joshhomme I now get to spend my night in the ER. Seriously, WHO DOES THAT?!?”
Responding to a comment posted on her Facebook page, Lauren said the were no restrictions for photographers for Queens Of The Stone Age’s set, saying Homme was “just being a drunk horrible human being.” Asked if she was going to press charges, she initially said: “I don’t think so… People are telling me to, though.”
However, speaking to Variety later, she said she did intend to press charges, explaining her camera had hit her in the face when Homme kicked out. She received medical treatment at LA’s Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
Homme has now issued a statement via the band’s social media accounts. It reads: “Last night, while in a state of being lost in performance, I kicked over various lighting and equipment on our stage. Today it was brought to my attention that this included a camera held by photographer Chelsea Lauren. I did not mean for that to happen and I am very sorry. I would never intentionally cause harm to anyone working at or attending one of our shows and I hope Chelsea will accept my sincere apology.”
Homme is reported to have also intentionally cut his face during the set, while he is also said to have called the audience “retards” and said “Fuck Muse”.
In a statement, the musician cited “illness in the touring party” for the reason behind his last minute cancellation, apologising to fans for the disappointment. “Morrissey looks forward to making it up to the Los Angeles fans as soon as possible,” the statement concluded.
