The popular film franchise will hit the small screen soon
The first trailer for The Purge TV show has been released.
The popular horror film series is being brought to television later this year, following the success of the movies.
A 10-episode series, which will also be titled The Purge, will premiere on September 4 in the US on the USA Network. It will follow a group of previously unrelated characters whose lives become entangled when they are forced to reckon with their past during the annual Purge.
The trailer, which you can watch above, was unveiled at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con this past weekend.
Earlier this year, producers of The Purge responded to Donald Trump using a slogan from the series for his 2020 election campaign. The current US President is reportedly planning to campaign to be re-elected using the slogan: “Keep America Great.” Those three words were the tagline for 2016’s The Purge: Election Year.
Andrew Form and Brad Fuller told Huffington Post: “It felt kind of natural after we made the movie and then he used that.”
Meanwhile, The First Purge is the latest film to be released in the series. The movie serves as a prequel to the previous films, exploring the events that led to the very first purge – a 12-hour period where crime has no legal consequences.
