NME Festival blog: Donald Trump is finally honest with himself in new ‘The Simpsons’ sketch

Makers of The Simpsons have shared a new short sketch satirising Donald Trump.

‘A Tale Of Two Trumps’ is not the first time the show has taken aim at the current US President. Last year, the series gave a damning verdict on his first 100 days in office, while creators also released a short trolling Trump following his handling of the devastation caused in Puerto Rico by Hurricane Maria.

The new short sees Trump taking “a good hard look in the mirror”, and being “honest for once in [his] life”. Stuttering, he tells himself he’s “not 100 percent consistent”, “you cheat at golf, you cheat at your taxes, you cheat on your wives”, and “you’ve been acting like a narcissistic sociopath”.

He also stands up to Vladimir Putin and promises Melania he’ll be “a new man”. Watch the short above.

Recently, The Simpsons creators dedicated the latest episode of the iconic show to Professor Stephen Hawking following the pioneering physicist’s death.

Hawking was honoured with an In Memoriam slide which showed him ascending into the sky on a jet-powered wheelchair while Lisa Simpson sits on his lap. “In loving memory of Stephen Hawking”, the caption read.

The scientist made several appearances on the show, with one of the most notable coming in the form of They Saved Lisa’s Brain, where Professor Hawking shows up to rescue Springfield’s high IQ individuals from a baying mob.
