Chadwick Boseman addressed whether he’s interested in running for President in his SNL monologue.

The Black Panther star hosted the long-running US sketch show last night (April 7), appearing in several sketches based on the hit Marvel movie.

“Now, one weird thing I’ve experienced since the movie came out is people asking me if I want to run for President,” Boseman said. “That’s because I play a world leader in the movie, they think I want to play the leader of the free world, but who wants that job?”

He added: “Why would I go from being a serious actor to doing reality TV?” Watch the actor’s full monologue above.

Boseman plays King T’Challa, the the beleagured leader of fictional kingdom Wakanda, in Black Panther. The record-breaking movie also stars the likes of Lupita Nyong’o and Michael B. Jordan.

A sequel has not yet been confirmed, but rapper Kendrick Lamar has expressed interest in featuring in it, were one to be made. Speaking to BBC Radio 1Xtra, he outlined that he’d like to play a “loved and misunderstood” role akin to Jordan’s polarising Eric Killmonger.

Lamar executive produced the movie’s soundtrack. The collaboration is both the first time Marvel have featured multiple original recordings created specifically for a film into one of their superhero movies, and the first time Kendrick Lamar has ever soundtracked a film.
