After ‘Homecoming’, it looks like there are more projects on the way
Sources have told Variety that in addition to Beyoncé’s new movie, Homecoming, which is streaming now on Netflix, the ‘Lemonade’ singer has signed up for a further two projects, with each said to be worth around $20 million each.
Neither Netflix nor representatives for Beyoncé have spoken publicly about the reports as yet.
‘Homecoming’ is centred on Beyoncé’s acclaimed Coachella comeback show in 2018. Beyoncé directed and produced the work alongside longtime collaborator Ed Burke, who served as co-director.
“This intimate, in-depth look at Beyoncé’s celebrated 2018 Coachella performance reveals the emotional road from creative concept to cultural movement,” part of a synopsis reads.
The release came with a surprise, accompanying live album, which features a recording of her entire Coachella performance as well as new material.
Meanwhile, it was revealed earlier this week that Beyoncé has written a letter expressing her admiration for Michelle Obama. The letter was published in Time magazine for their annual ‘100 Most Influential People’ issue, in which the former First Lady is included.
“Loving Michelle Obama wasn’t much of a choice,” Beyoncé writes. “It was something that came naturally, because of how she carried herself. Because she resembled us and was moving in spaces where, as black Americans, we weren’t exactly meant to be, she seemed so powerful.”
She continued: “The way she looked, walked and spoke, in that warm but authoritative tone, we saw our mothers and sisters. She was strong and ambitious and spoke her mind without sacrificing honesty or empathy. That takes a lot of courage and discipline.”
Time’s list also included Beyoncé’s fellow musicians Ariana Grande, Lady Gaga and Khalid.
