Very sad news about the passing of Simon Emmerson. He was a great supporter of the festival and played at BD in Afro Celt Sound System and most recently in 2022 in The Imagined Village on our Big Top stage. Thoughts are with his family and friends. RIP Simon x

So very sorry to hear of the passing of Grammy-nominated musician and record producer Simon Emmerson – founder member of the acclaimed collective Afro Celt Sound System.

We worked with Simon in recent years on album releases, touring and just last year played a part in bringing The Imagined Village back to the stage for two performances in the Summer. Sincere condolences to Simon’s family, band members and close friends.

I saw the Imagined village last year & it was one of the stand out sets of the festival. Also seen ACSS many times at many venues, Simon was a lovely bloke & a very talented musician & will be sorely missed. ❤
